Because you are not privy to any details of our plans as they are confidential within Spurs!
People assume that 'we' fly by the seats of our pants because we don't spend big money when in fact there are lots of plans.
A lot of people tend to listen to a lot of ITK and newspapers then assume that the powers that be don't know what they're doing, now i understand that you are not given any other information so its natural to fill in the gaps yourself but its a bit disingenuous to assume its a haphazard knee-jerk dart throwing exercise of obtaining players. We do look at value and i think our finances and history prove that we are trying not to go bankrupt by spending money on exorbitant transfers and wages but work in a more sustainable model by getting a new training ground and soon a new stadium whilst building a team from our academy and developing players.

So in other words, if we sell and bring some money in during january we'll use it sensibly and reinvest if seen fit?!

Yes that was about the selling 1 of 2 and not both. Nothing to do with Chadli up front.
We've been looking at Ings to update on Storts. One of a few options that we could go for if, Harry gets injured or Ade or RS leave. More than likely if we do go for him it will be the summer but then there are more options available then also.
Berahino currently way too expensive for his talent, you are paying over 20M for potential which is high risk.

Would be interesting to know whether any interest in RS or Adebayor has been forthcoming.

Not sure what's so hard to understand: we've got a bloated squad that has brought our wage bill to the brink. We need to offload players to get the wage bill down. It's got more to do with the wages than the fees (except as JJ mentioned, Berahino's price is exorbitant and not deemed a good usage of funds). It's the same as it ever were, we will look for deals when they are appropriate; if there's none to be had or we can't get what we want for the players we deem as surplus, we'll likely wait until later in the window when teams get even more desperate.

It's not how we all want it to go down, but it's what we've done for years now and despite Pochettino and the squad looking like they've turned the corner, there's not a lot we can do at the moment given the wage situation. We've just got to hope the players we don't need have suitors and are willing to work with Levy on finding some sort of agreement on valuation.

I'd love to see us throw inhibition to the wind and simply take what's offered for our players (within reason), but as I've mentioned before, it takes three to tango in this game and it's got to all line up. Something that's hard to do in the January window.

Well it doesn't sound much of a plan not to get a striker in who CAN score only if Kane gets injured or we can sell one of the chuckle brothers. Because they ain't scoring. Is Ade even training with the first team? Like pink said, what if Kane gets injured early February? We will be in shit creek.

So what happens if we don't bring anyone in and Kane gets injured in early February?

What's the game plan then? Reintegrate Adebayor or rely in Bobby who's a 1 in 50?

To me that just doesn't sound like a sound plan despite January being a tricky window to do business. Most of us were hoping that Soldado would of started to find the net regularly by now and Adebayor might even of decided to give it a real go under Pochettino - at least for a couple of months. Neither is going to happen and one probably won't play for Spurs again.

As it stands our season pretty much rests on the shoulders of young Kane.

plans can be amended and cashflow found to fund the exploitation of a business opportunity.. given how crap the teams around us are, we look bloody capable of getting top 4 and champions league .. are Levy et al are willing to spend an extra £20m / £30m and wages to try for that?

I think most people don't expect the Club to spend irresponsibly, and by doing so putting us at risk, and most are also fully aware that the Club is run very well - because they don't do exactly that.

But we do have a bit of previous for not consolidating/improving when it appeared we really could or should have. If we can't do any deals this January and its not for the want of really trying then fair enough. But we do need a back up for Kane given the circumstances surrounding the other two and for me even if it means a loan of some sort, as a last resort, at the end of window that would be better than nothing.

Nobody is expecting us to spend 20 million plus and a huge contract to back up Kane.

I don't look at stats when judging players.

Would you have Austin over Kane or even Ade? He's not good enough for Spurs. Yes he's scored a few for qpr this season but that's about his level.

Would Ings offer us something different and also be able to play in the 3 behind the striker? Yes.

How many times have you seen Ings play as a No.10 (and I don't mean play wearing No.10) or in one of the other positions behind a striker ?

Even if we can't sell Ade or Soldado in January, we should still secure Ings signing now and loan him back to Burnley.

I've seen him enough to know he's good at linking play and can see a pass. He could easily play behind the front man or either side. He's a natural number 9 but IMO has the ability to play other positions.

Because he's out of contract. Sell now or lose him for free in a few months.
He is under 24, so they would get compensation and considering Man Utd were going to get 3.5m for Fryers from us, Burnley could easily get 5m IMO and that extra 3m won't be worth it the risk.

Ings right now makes much more sense than in the summer. We're gonna regret not signing a striker this window :(

The good old Peter Risdale approach.

It's like a starving person finding a tenner and spending it all on scratch cards

Why are we not looking at Benteke??

Depay also we should be going for.

Why are we looking at, frankly dross like Ings and Berahino?

Signings like this or Stambouli are the reason we won't make top 4.

Are these really our scouts best recommendations JJ?
Can we sack that **** Mitchell and get Tyler Durden in? Any ITK on this JJ?

I'd consider buying Soldado and Paulinho when we had already had Kane and Mason as a perfect example of poor planning and throwing money away.
