Good morning everyone, I know it's late but this is the first ITK DIscussion Thread of 2014 so we'd like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Yesterday Mrs A&C was holding her friends newly born twin baby boys.

"Ouch!" she said. "He's pinching my chin"

"Which one?" I asked.

"Jack"

It's weird that she's got names for her chins.

There's been an ITK drought on and to be honest, that probably reflects well on them as I think we all know there's not going to be much happening this month. But the madhouse will carry on as usual!

Mind you, whenever I have sex with Mrs A&C, she likes me to quote lines from films, as it turns her on.

But I think I upset her last night when I said "That'll do Donkey. That'll do."

There's three ways to do things, the right way, the wrong way and the way that I do it

Ooh, fresh thread. Many thanks @Archibald&Crooks. Nice to have a couple of wife jokes too.

Not expecting much action this month, but you never know.

Ali Z on COYS:

"Will get busier, we won't do much in, might be a few outs, most we will do is 2 in, money is there, players not".

I know it's not much, but it's something to discuss .... :)

Nice to know that we might be bringing people in and that Sherwood is getting money. Hopefully one is a LB.

Defoe out must be a definite?

If for no other reason than whetting the appetite, HE NEEDS REPLACING.

WITH A NEW STRIKER :)

Yeah, yeah, Kane can cover or we can push Chadli up but that's not what we want here in the transfer rumours forum is it? Left back? Centre back? Bo-o-o-o-ring!

I agree but i think the best we can hope for with a striker would be a loan move...something along the lines of the rumored loans for Vucinic or Quagliarella.

It would get us to summer and depending on TS performance we either stick with him or bring in a new manager, then we make the decision for a long term solution.

I'll take that to mean "We're signing Hummels and Reus"

I truly think BAE should be recalled he has more experience than Rose and for me is a better LB at the moment....I don't think we will get anybody better in this month unless we break the bank. Saying that i think Sherwood likes Rose and we will prob stick with him and as for back up we have Fryers, its prob not ideal as both are v.much learning their trade so unless we have somebody already lined up i cant see much movement.

CB we should be ok with Vertonghen and Kaboul back in training although Kaboul is a ticking time bomb i really cant see the big man getting another contract!!which is why the Lescott rumour ( although killed by some ) would have been a good additional loan imo.

The Lamela rumour is the most worrying for me. The money spent on the lad now looks very excessive as he cant seem to get game time? with the persistent talk of him going back to Italy on a possible loan it makes me wonder just what is happening at the decision making end of things when it comes to Transfers and the answer for me is too many fingers in the pie.

On the whole a CB and recall BAE to LB for me would be ok i really don't see much more happening. January is a bad time to make big moves. Hopefully Sherwood can get us 4th with lets face it a v.good squad of players and once injuries return i think we should really start to tick. COYS

Oh for sure.
It would be interesting to have a genuine striker as an alternative, be they a temporary or permanent answer.
We can't expect to play 2 up front all year with Ade and Soldado & Kane.
We need one more.
And, holding on to Defoe til March doesn't cut it for me.

Definitely need to replace Defoe but can't think of any 'exciting' realistic targets - even in a WC Year!

Would also consider a CB who can cover LB as a shrewd move. Simply playing Jan there when he returns will do more harm than good IMO. He is our best CB and should be made club captain (providing he actually wants to stay here!)

Attacking wise, we should just back Lamela and play him regularly - surely it would feel like a new signing!!

Roger Johnson all but confirmed to West Ham. Not sure if this pulls them out of the race for Lescott or not.
