I see that as the area that will hold up any potential move. Levy will want Modric to hand in a transfer request or at least kiss goodbye to any bonus. Why would we have to pay him a 'loyalty bonus' if hes leaving 4 years before the end of his contract?
We would have a bonus written in to his contract that will be paid over the duration of the contract. If we sell without him requesting a move he will be entitled to have that bonus paid to him.

Which players would be considered competition for him in his position? Are Madrid playing Khedira and Alonso as defensive midfielders? Not sure he will be picked ahead of them on a regular basis. Why don't they just chuck Xabi Alonso our way..?

The player at RM i'd liken him to the most is probably Ozil. In all fairness i'm not sure if they need him or not but that's never stopped them in the past.
I like the violent and unsettling tone of retribution you have managed to convey with your imagery. Though I think it's a bit harsh on the replacement.

Loyalty doesn't exist much in football anymore sadly. The bonus needs to be renamed to 'mo money, mo money, mo money, bonus'
I will have fond memories of Luka though, even though he was a bit of a dick last summer. I can't ignore the wonderful football I have seen from him over the past few years.
I'm not convinced we'll get a replacement as such. I think we'll simply spend the money on a few quality additions to the squad. Not necessarily like for like players, but players who will add to the quality of our squad overall.
