Posted a less-gunnell like picture of him in the Internacional kit in the twitter thread...

Be honest, with the best will in the world I don't really see what AVB could say to Modric to convince him we are, at present, a better proposition that Real Madrid, I'm not sure what he could say to convince a die hard fan like me to stay let alone him.

You can go to Madrid, but your nut-sack stays here?

If I am honest I am bored of the whole Modric thing and hope its true and he is going.

Absolutely brilliant footballer , but time for him and Spurs to move on

Someone like Steffen Freund as assistant would be a similar fit to appointing RDM as assistant at Chelsea... (although with hindsight......).

After Carrick went he was the best CM we had, so dropping him wasn't really an option. That just goes to show how things have changed. He's missed a hell of a lot of games through injury, though, even more than I'd thought, which maybe goes some way to explaining why he's never lived up to the advance billing. On that account, I don't think Levy should be trying to chisel too much out of Fulham or anyone else; we might never get rid of him.

Hoofhearted's a bit of a blast from the past. It must be three years since he's posted any ITK.

I have been saying this for two years now when it comes to Jenas. While I liked him as a player for the most part he is not in our plans and we are just wasting valuable wages on him just to get a little extra for him. We could have been rid of him two years ago and saved his wages and had that count as a "fee" for him. For a club that tries to save money we sure do waste it on wages just so we don't have to look like we lost money on a player. Bentley is another prime example of this. Just get a million or two pounds for Jenas and move on, same for Bentley if you ask me.

We are not always going to get a world class player with every transfer, sometimes you just have to know when to cut your losses and move on so others can give it a shot.

Does AVB have his assistants etc in place? Are we expecting a director of football?

he's a got a couple guys he brought along from Porto/Chelsea but one's a fitness coach and one's an opposition scout. Archibald suggested another staff announcement is imminent, with the most common expectation being Freund as a first team coach. Ali Z on COYS at least has suggested that a DoF-type upper level person will also be appointed, which AVB's appointment as Head Coach would support.

Although following the OS news story about Ledley helping out in the community, I bet Ledley will join the staff soon

They make no reference to Ledley being a player in that article; it's just like "The 31-year-old said..." - seems a bit fishy!
