enough people seem to be confidant with Vertonghen that im sure he will sign.

The problem is that with the Euros and the olmpics there will be a lot of the players taking a break now as they wont be able to after these comps (for long anyway)
Many of them will be waiting to see if they have a good competition to bump up their contract and clubs transfer fee's.

just enjoy the summer, the football and olympics and im sure we will hear and hope to see more activity when Harry and Levy get around to sorting out a contract,

agree with all that, but at the same time you cant really play it off as a masterstroke signing by harry. ANY manager would take VDV for 8 million in a heartbeat.

who said it was a masterstroke by harry. i didnt. people are playing it off as a masterstroke by levy which i dont get. he was offered to us at cheap rate when no one else was biting , not actually a chairman who goes out and gets what he wants to really improve team. we got lucky and will be long time again before a specific transfer like that happens imo.

Keep Nielsen? Bless you, no. We sold him to Watford, oh, 11-12 years ago, at a handsome profit, as I recall. Had you forgotten?

So predictable... You forgot to mention he scored the winner in the 1999 League cup Final.

I have a theory. My theory is that Real Madyidd is ironically rating all the off topic, uninformative posts as "informative". A quick scroll back will highlight all you Bastards who have gone off on a tangent - which is a lot.

So unless I am confusing this with the Off Topic Bastard thread........?

Exactly! Was hoping people would see that their posts were inappropriately rated so would get the sarcasm.

No chance of Klinsmann. We played fantastic against Scotland, only to relapse against Brazil and Canada. The side is clearly a work in progress and he doesn't seem like the type to jump ship in he middle of his own project. With World Cup qualification starting in two days, Jurgen's job is only just now really starting. In my opinion, we have more of a chance of signing Messi than Klinsmann at this point in time. He doesn't want to leave, and US Soccer and Gulati don't want him to leave.
I think you're being a little naiive here, there's no loyalty in football and Jurgen would take the job he thinks best for him and his family.
He may prefer to stay with the USA because as I understand it he lives in California, but if he were offered the Spurs job I'm sure he'd give it serious consideration.

Indeedy-doody. Just like when Klinsmann abandoned us and fucked off to Bayern.

It's not about loyalty. He took the job, not because of the money being offered, but because he wanted to really set something special up. He wanted to change everything about US soccer from the ground up. He isn't the type to just dump that after less than a year in charge, especially with qualification starting up this week. He has stated he loves it in California and his wife and kids are Americans. He stated that he had plenty of offers all over Europe after being let go by Bayern, but that he only wanted to move home. Loyalty to Spurs is the only reason I could see him even consider taking the job.

This - I would be absolutely amazed if he came. Amazed as the first time, gob smacked as the second time....

But remember, he has a little bit of his heart here.
