Oh my God. Richards? A complete donkey who is always injured. He's so clumsy on the ball its not even funny.

If Poch wants him I'll be very surprised but we'll see I guess. I've never been impressed with him.

I hope the Richards info was just case of some 'no football brain' director (we'll mention no names starting with L) knowing we've identified the need for a defender (Loveren, now Daws is pretty much going) and doing his usual "well this guy is a defender... and cheaper than who you actually wanted... and I know he used to be good" routine.

But with the outcome of "err...no"

LB spot is cursed. All players who played there after October have had their previous good work go out the window.

Sort the system then sort the players.

Complete donkey's a bit harsh. He's not terrible on the ball, other wise he wouldn't have done reasonably well as a RB, well enough to get England call ups and play 30 games in their first title season 10-11 - also most assists of any defender in the EPL that season.

He's aggressive, strong, pretty quick. Not the cleverest but maybe as a CB could be a foil for the the likes of Vertonghen/Chiriches. You're basically getting Dawson's attitude but with quicker legs and more confidence on the ball.

Could do better, could do worse for fuck all ?

That's pretty much my assessment too, BC.

Although, this sort of ITK/news report smacks of something Richards people want to get out there.

It's pretty clear he needs to move on from City, he wants to stay in the Premier League, he can't convincingly claim that any of the top sides are after him, so gets a link going with a competitive side who have a weakness in that area. Agent doing his/her job with a well-placed phone call to a sports desk or two, maybe some chatter around their current club that "Spurs are interested so...you know...you'd better decide whether to play him or sell him...".

We may yet go in for him, but when stories like this break from left field, it doesn't usually add up to much unless there are multiple sources all confirming it quicker than they seem to be at the moment.

I recall Richards playing CB at the lane when Defoe scored a late pen. Richards was superb in a poor City side, outpowered Ledley at set plays and set up numerous attacks. Could be a masterstroke or a balls up, but probably worth the risk.

Well he isn't a donkey, he is an absolute beast in terms of an athlete although he does appear to be made of glass.

His biggest issue is that he lacks football intelligence (which unfortunately is true of a few of our squad Walker and Townsend are particular examples). If we could get him fit and use him as a (backup) CB he would be a decent option and of course wouldn't take up one of our 17 international over 21 slots. The big doubt in that is if we could keep him fit much like Kaboul.

Not going to happen anyway. So this was a waste of a post lol.

I'm with Pinky on this one - never seen anything in him other than a fine physical specimen.

We are surely actively looking for more footballing intelligence so this move completely flies in the face of this, coupled with the fact he's incredibly injury prone.

Thankfully JJ has rubbished this link anyway so it's all irrelevant.

Official site's got a 'Lamela is determined to show what he can do-for the fans' article (well, two paragraphs)
So hopefully that scotches any remaining rumours that he's off.

Micah Richards ?? Have you lot got Tims list of players he wanted as he was number 1!!

Best news all week.

Well after the CPO and Lloris news.

Richards would really be a return to the bad old days. Technical intelligent players is the future, and Richards is definitely neither of these.

This interestingly explains where the story originates from. It's just 3-4 months out-of-date.
