Pretty sure Hercs said Lo Celso was set on us and other ITK said we could get both our midfield choices and keep Eriksen. So what has changed?

possibly Betis are not accepting the original bid which might be our limit without outgoings. when ITK are given leads they are not told the exact figure that player will cost. they are told of our interest. if Lo Celso is 20m more than we want to pay and still keep Eriksen then things change

GLC is all about the finances, as Betis are sticking (apparently) to what they want. I cannot mention in detail the strategy the club ‘allegedly’ is using. The 3 is well documented (imminent deals). RB, as I already said is dependent on who we sell in that position, with Tripps the most likely. We will not spend 40m even then on a RB. Obviously things can change, but that is what I am hearing.

If Betis don’t budge with the equivalent way Palace dealt with Zaha suitors 12 months ago, we will look elsewhere. I won’t add to what recent ITK’s have mentioned today, as all is consistent.

That wasn't what the post i was replying to said though. It said if we want him we get him.

if we want him, and the deal falls into the finances I believe we will get him. at the moment RM hold no cards, they either loan him paying a large chunk, pay him off what ever Bale will accept, or let him enjoy playing golf for 600k per week.

if Bale wants to play football more than golf, and terms where ok, I think he would come back

Cheers Herc. Interesting that you mention the well-documented 3. Does that mean 1 Sess rather than 2?

Doesn't sound like we're acting much like Liverpool did last summer. However, happy to wait and see where all this ends up.

This is all great news! I think people are sleeping on what a huge signing Ryan Sessegnon is going to be. Fingers crossed we pull these deals off!

Probably the position we need addressing most after a central midfielder but we're not willing to pay more than £40m for a right back?!

That is a silly viewpoint from us. Good full backs are expensive for a reason - they aren't easy to get hold of.

We only have to look at how much better we were with £50m valued Kyle Walker.

We're just about to get Poch his number one target, nice and early, and you say this?!
Give them a chance.

IIRC Betis are basically wanting the release fee for GLC.

I really hope we get this done but whilst I can see us offering a structured deal in the region of the buyout clause, Betis are probably hoping that if they hold out we will acquiesce and just activate it (pay everything up front). which I can’t see us ever doing.

Makes sense to step away from GLC if Betis are playing silly buggers over the fee, especially with other deals to close. Especially with him at the Copa still.

Park it to one side until GLC returns, get him to apply a bit of pressure and hopefully a compromise can be found.

RB - Personally I think this is a key area, and if Poch wanted AWB then paying the £45-50m reported to seal it would have been a real 'big club' move. Hopefully it means we have decent targets in the lower price range though (Aarons/Atal).

Re Ali Z, So basically Ndombele, Clark, & the Sessegnon’s. Everything else depends on outgoings and so far it seems like none are really close. Have I got that tight?

I’m fine with keeping Toby if what he says is the case. But i cant imagine nobody comes in for him. It’s £25m. For a player like Toby, that is an insanely good price. Someone will come in for him eventually. Just hope it isnt an English club.

It would be good to know if he still wants us?

His release clause is £88m. If you choose to believe Sky, they've said Betis would settle for £70m, which i'm sure we'll knock down further.

Betis will have to accept eventually. How can they afford to turn down even something like 60 million for him, they can't. No way anyone is paying 70 plus million for him.

There's no right back currently at the market, bar maybe Cancelo, who is worth 40m+. Would much rather get Atal for closer to 30m.

Also think Zaha wasn't willing to upset Palace by trying to force the move, get the feeling Lo Celso will push for it which will be in our favour.

another season without any competition for him is a big mistake imo. He needs to be pushed and we need more creativity.

If we sign a Zaha/ Bale type I would say we would have enough creativity with Dele and Ndombele in the side for Eriksen to be dropped.

Shows that Ndombele really does help so many of our issues.

Plus Zaha is on a very good salary at Palace and they've just sold AWB to United, I just can't see them selling their two best players this summer.
