Holtby and Eriksen could easily surpass Ozil anyway.

Would have been great to get him but then Holtby definitely wouldn't have played and it would have messed with his development.

I like Holtby but he will never be in Ozil's class. Eriksen could get somewhere near if he continues his development a realises his full potential, but lets be honest, Ozil is top drawer.

Way better business by us on paper than any other club. Yes Ozil is a great player but if there was one position the goons didn't need reinforcing it was creative midfield.

We didn't Coentrao but other than that I think our business was excellent. Now if AVB can get into Ade's head and bring out the guy who played at Stamford Bridge last year then we will have an awesome squad, albeit one that needs time to gel.

As much as we think we are the best thing since sliced bread realistically we are not RM or Man U and can only sign the young talent and not the established worldies. Until we consistently reach the cl or start winning trophies it will stay this way, we have therefor given ourselves the best shot at doing this by adding the players we have. When capoue got injured we consoled ourself with the knowledge we had sandro to come in, The deadwood is practically gone and someone like moussa's place is now under threat when last season we wondered how we would cope without him when injured such is the squad improvement.
We lived the perfect window for a long time and got spoilt, bales eventual departure was always going to be a sad day when it happened & arsenal were always going to spend eventually (it could have been worse they needed more than 1 player & a keeper). It would have been a dream had Man U been all over the ozil deal late on as they should have IMO and if fabio had been more keen but since when does anyone get everything they want. Im sure daniel would have tried his hardest to get him included in the bale deal it just wasnt possible. Now we just need the mystery goat bleat to ease our curiosity then we can all get our lives back. Until January anyway.

Wow!! Some of you are shambolic. DL has run our club so well since he was put in charge. He can be a pain in the backside at times but he has certainly made amends this summer. Lets not forget our transfer record was beaten THREE times this summer. With or without bale money if DL stated that we'd buy the likes of lamely eriksen and paulinho before the window started we'd be in total love with him.

At the end of the day, we are not owned by a billionaire oil tycoon with extortionate amounts of money to spend a la citeh and Chelsea. However our squad has suddenly gone from mediocre to brimming with talent. Playing against the scum on Sunday showed what we missed. We missed the likes of eriksen and I do hope holtby gets to play as a number 10 as well because he simply looks fantastic.

Considering holtby has taken the best part of 3/4 of a year to settle...I wouldn't start jumping he gun and demanding instant success. We have a whole new team. We will stutter as our players gel but I believe we will be a force after the new year.

Now the board can concentrate on getting our multi million stadium started.

The future is bright. The future is lilywhite

Have faith!

Agree, but I still feel we addressed more areas that needed addressing than Arsenal (or any other team) did.

I reckon the signing of the transfer window was not Ozil but Baldini.

i don't know about you guy's but willian's replacement was eriksen, if we signed willian we would have played him in the middle feeding the wingers & the striker, eriksen is be a cheaper alternative, IMO eriksen has more potential then willian who is already at his peak...

Agreed but it was still a panic buy by an increasingly out of touch Wenger who thankfully stubbornly refuses to fix the problems in the spine of their team. I'll put aside this weekend and say I still expect us to overtake them this year. In fact given the imbalance at Chavski and the Special One's intransigence, the underwhelming Moyes at Manure I really think only Citeh have a squad that really is a notch above ours, largely due to their proven quality upfront.

everyone on here should take a step back and stop moaning about things cus its not going to change . fact we know levys tight when it comes to spending money so spending large dollops of money would never have happened without selling bale , if he stayed we would only have got maybe 3 of those players at most , as it is we have become stronger collectively because of bale . i will admit there were some who we needed to get out but didnt [ ade comes to mind ] but they wanted to stay so we are stuck with what we have . now things are over the reality is that when the team gells we might stART playing some good stuff although i think we need to change the way we play , i dont think we will get top four as i dont think we will win enough games whilst the players get to know each other , if players like lamela take time to get used to this league as i exspect then it will be difficult to take selling bale but its something we will have to get used to as we are never going to be throwing money at every player on the market as we are a buisness and its about making money in buisness so we will always sell our best assets so the books will look good when the time comes to sell the club because thats what enic wants in the long term .

To be fair, we needed more areas addressing than they did in the first place, but we certainly have improved all areas.

AVB made Bale into twice a player he was a year ago.

Why can't he do the same with Rose, Eriksen & Lamela.

I trust AVB.

To me, Rose has been on the improve from the first game of the season. May be time to trust him & give him a chance.

Apart from a LB, surprised we did not sign Halilovic, prehaps family demands

I don't see any reason why that couldn't still happen. He wasn't going to come here this season anyway so in theory we could still announce an agreement.

Probably won't happen though.

There was no point rushing through a deal for Halilovic, as he cant come until next summer anyway. We could complete this next week, in a month or in 9 months time and it wont make a difference.
