I'm not confident, based on todays ITK that we are getting anyone in today. I'll live with that this window but really we need to be looking for:-
-replacements for Ade - a good young target man to mix things up in the striker position and take the pressure off Soldado.
-selling Gomes and promoting Archer (if rated)
-sorting out the BAE situation - replace him with quality if he is to be sold.

After that I'm quite happy, although by the next window I'm sure the folks on here will have identified the next scapegoat or two o_O
I believe this will be our 25 man squad:-

Lloris/Friedal/Gomes
Walker/Naughten-----Vertonghen/Dawson-------Kaboul/Chiriches-----Assou-Ekotto/Rose
Sandro/Capoue*----Dembele/Holtby----Paulinho/Erikssen
Lennon/Lamela/Townsend-----Soldado/Defoe/Ade----Chadli/Sigurdsson

* = Carroll on loan or in squad if Capoue is out long term.

If I told everyone at the start of the window we would have a net spend of ZERO for this window, would you be happy? People can make fun of Arsenal all they want, but they will finish with a net spend of 40 million plus, Liverpool with a substantial net spend. These are the two teams we are battling w/ for fourth and they are showing quite a bit more ambition than us at the moment.

We've spent over 100 million pounds. Ignore the net spend as that tells you bugger all. If we were blowing money just to increase our net spend and look 'ambitious' then i'd be questioning DL's sanity.

Firstly, I've been saying for months we will have a zero net spend. But that's meaningless as we've still spent nearly 110m on 7 international players. One at 26m one at 30m. The fact we haven't spent and disposable income is a good thing. We've a stadium to fund.

Secondly, have Liverpool got any players we'd have chosen over what we actually signed?

Thirdly, I can't go on or I'll get banned lol.

Well for me its not about the money spent but the actual players we are left with in our squad. My onion is that the squad is superb now and the if we have done that without spending any money even better.

We had a serious injury to a top DM yesterday and who did we bring on? another top DM

We just need to be patient allow the new boys to bed in and wait for our next talisman.

This simply isn't true. You cannot count a net spend when you have just recieved a world record transfer fee!! We have spent in the region of £120m this summer, more than anyone. And we have strengthened the squad from last season. It is not about numbers it is about the balance and strenth of a squad. Yes Arsenal have spent more net than us but only added one good player, we have added 4 or 5 and lost 1 so players wise we have a better net spend.

It's crazy to think about, but with Arsenal and Liverpool's spending today, we will be the only club in the league to have made a net profit in our transfer dealings this summer (that is, if we don't sign anyone else). I think that'll make Joe Lewis quite happy, and we helped re-build a pretty fantastic squad, too.

Still hope the ITK about a left-back comes to fruition. Pereira on loan from Inter maybe?

Exactly what I'm thinking.

This is wrong on so many levels.

Cant see us doing anything now. Think we would have heard about it by now if had anything lined up. What an awful day though with Arsenal looking like will get Ozil at the very least

I hope Wonga = Newcastle and that it means Ben Arfa.

That would sort our forward LW position. He is class (when healthy).

Does he not play on the right cutting in on to his left. His goal on Saturday exemplifies this.

Apparently Zenit are in the process of trying to get Yarmolenko from Dynamo. Might bee seen as a replacement for Hulk...

Where's the tv money going?and this 50 mill loan from Lewis .still feel we need 1 more forward player.
Think Soldado will be the main striker anyhow so not fussed if we have Defoe/Ade as back up. Think the team is strong now so if the TV money + JL's money accelerated the stadium build, I'm ok with that.

Stop understanding it, and look it up on fifa.com.
"Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one
season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches
for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs
belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in
summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official
matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully
complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally,
the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the
minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected."

No need, you did it for me (y)

He does, and we really don't need anyone else for the RW position.

I think our LW is a bit of a problem at the moment to be honest. I'd like us to try Townsend there personally.

When we brought vdv in on deadline day there was no suggestion of this until about 2 hours remaining, iirc we were offered him very late in the day and it all happened ultra quick after that. Remember on dd decisions have to be made on impulse, if we make a offer to hard to turn down it can all happen within a few hours

I did say unlikely not impossible - VDV did happen as you say but there are more stories of the last minute attempts that we didn't pull off than those we did. Sure a number of them may had been PR or indeed nonsense but my gut feeling is that last day deals are not normally completed without a few days work prior to the window closing.
