The way I see it, Poch was on holiday today. Sure he was by a phone, but if he was really stressing the quality of the squad, I think he would have stayed behind, or flown home for today to make sure we got what he wanted. I think everyone was on the same page in terms of players and prices. Club legitimately tried a couple of different players in Isco and Sissoco but could not push either deal across the line. I don't fault the club in either case, and I doubt Poch is losing any sleep over it either.

Time to judge mate will be the end of the season but a well measured post from yourself.

In terms of wages we're definitely 6th, and some distance ahead of the other 14 clubs. I doubt transfers entirely make up for that - mid-table clubs spend big occasionally, not every year, so whilst it looks frustrating the difference over time isn't actually massive.

we are also the highest earning team in europe that is not reguarly in the CL

The sad bit is that we are releasing the frustration now. Like the window is one day long. Shouldn't be shocked that all our signings didn't happen all on one day.

Assuming we made a legit attempt to sign Isco, and he chose not to come, indicates we felt the need for a player of his type and what he could bring to the team / add... we now appear not be getting any player of his type, not even a plan B... indicates to me, the squad will be weaker than what Poch wanted...

Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dembele, Dier; Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Kane
Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Wimmer, Son, Janssen, Wanyama, Nkoudou
Outside of that: Davies, CCV, Edwards, Winks, Lopez, Carroll.

It's a strong First XI/Bench. But the minute we hit some injuries, it's going to be a bit hairy.

What is the point of a new stadium if bottom half teams can outspend us 5-1 because of the TV money while we are pocketing profits to build the stadium?

Basically we are banking on a future advantage that is going to be dwarfed by the the TV money everyone has and will struggle to spend. If Everton are spending 60m on Bolasie/Sissoko and holding on to Lukaku, then what advantage is there going to be in 5 years?

Yeah it'll be great having a new stadium. But I don't think financially it'll matter as much as it would have ten years ago because of the huge influx of cash. The fact that we are holding back now because of the stadium, with such a great team and manager, is a shame and may be a huge mistake.

at this rate the stadium should be mortgage free...........we will be loaded in a few years!!

I can accept not over paying for players.30m for sissoko is damn right crazy but if you cant find value for money for what you want then you certainly shouldnt be selling the likes of mason before carroll. I know we have winks but until poch actually tests him in a league match (not counting the 13 seconds here and there) how can he seriously not have any other options.dembele cant play more than once a week and dier and wanyama looks woeful together.

I'm quoting Levy and he's the one writing the cheques. The manager says what the PR want him to say.

Sure thing. But what are you actually saying? "Affected" - does that mean diminished? I don't think we've particularly done anything different than we have over the last 4-5 years really?

Surely an expectation that we would spend is over and above that? So when he says "it won't be affected" - it doesn't suddenly mean we are going to splurge, does it? It just means it won't be dramatically reduced. Fair enough analysis?

Ali z info just in means we are now not signing anyone? Thought he wasn't hearing again from source and didn't know player in question? Does that mean the player may happen ? I'm confused

If the success or failure of your transfer window hinges on a Real Madrid player who is well liked by the manager and fans deciding whether or not to leave, then you fucked up somewhere along the way.

It was worth trying for Isco given the circumstances but we should have sewn up other options earlier in the window and then waited him out as the possible icing on top of the cake.

But we always seem to be a player or two short every window and we heard about lessons learnt etc, the only thing now is to move onto the next game and put points on the board.

He said "deal off, sorry" and it was in reference to Sissoko

Sissoko not being worth 30m does not justify failing to spend the 20-25m bid on Sissoko on a player who is worth that money.

That is the issue. Waiting does not add value any longer. Maybe we get 5 million less for players we sold this week if we sold then a month ago. But we could take then spend 15-20m on another player instead of failing to sign a worse player like Sissoko for 20-25m.
