Am I the only person who doesn't understand why we need to find a replacement for Llorente ? He has proved that bar Madrid away he offers the squad nothing, so what would we lose by selling him even if we can't find another striker for the squad. Right now he is just consuming wages and blocking the path of our academy strikers.

So it looks like only Moura

That's
- a very clear strengthening of the squad in a position of weakness/lack of cover
- with a player with attributes with otherwise lack
- with international pedigree
- who's got his best years ahead of him at 25
- for £25m

That on it's own is a great deal.

We'd all like more players, but in reality I think we've got to be happy with that

I don't know if the "need a replacement" bit is the reason or whether no one is willing to match what we want for him and Levy thinks he'll spontaneously combust if he sells a player for less than he paid for him.

Would rather keep his experience for the (potential) latter stages of the CL than shift with no replacement imo, as weak as he’s been so far. Wages doesn’t really affect us supporters and a youth player won’t get time at the moment anyway so I’d rather not sell without replacing again personally.

Don't understand people that want to have 1 senior striker in the squad. Llorente is a good name to have around, experienced and good with squad according to ITK. I know son is probably more suited to play when Kane's not available, but we'd be leaving our self short.

I completely agree. I have really wanted Llorente to fit in and thought it was a great option at the start of the season but every time we try to give him minutes it completely disrupts the balance and style of the team. son is much closer to Kane in terms of his willingness to move to all quarters of the final third etc. If we could've turned a profit on Llorente now and reinvested, I would much rather we had looked at options in other areas in the short term such as cm (although my number one pick is now linked with Arsenal!) and work on one of the many young strikers that have been banded about these pages this window for the summer.

That all said, I think Moura for £25m in the current market is great business as there is no real depreciation there even if he doesn't settle or is "another Walcott" etc. Could add something different straight away, has 7-10 years in him and therefore would sell for far more than that in the future in any case

It is, and it's a lot more than we've done in many a January window. Problem is of course that the teams around us have also all invested heavily and look (except maybe the Arse) stronger than they did in December.

So while I'm pleased I hope we won't find ourselves scratching our heads come the end of May and wonder if we could and should have done more this window...

The fact that Herc and JJ are both extremely quiet sounds like something is bering worked on, not suggesting something will happen but it does seem like attempts are being made. I guess we will see what happens once Moura is announced.

I think if that's the ultimate conclusion then it will be our failure to address key areas in the summer rather than this window which is to blame.

Or they're being extremely quiet because theres nothing to be loud about, like they explicitly said.

I will be amazed if anything happens. We usually hear something by now if something is going on.

Or maybe just nothings happening. Or their contacts are too busy to pass on info.
No point reading anything into it. We'll find out in a few hours either way.

Agreed. If we were finished they'd just say. Obvs not to mean whatever it is will happen but still interesting
