Call it what you want, we would have been better off not "re investing"
Oh, really? So we would have been better off selling Bale and not re investing the money? So we'd be better off with no Eriksen, Chadli or Lamela? We could have done better than Vlad, Capoue and Soldado, though. Plus, we also made off with a profit in that window also.

And how long will this playmaking / leader of men stay with us? I'm not saying don't invest in a few positions but I think we need a culture of development and growth rather than spending to maintain the status quo.

And how long will Eriksen and Kane stay if we don't start challenging. Every transfer window we should look to improve the first team. This is one of the main areas of concern.

I remember a couple of years ago Benny said that every year he'd been at the club we had improved. Shortly after that we started going backwards. Last summer was a terrible transfer window - just brought in a few more average players we'll struggle to sell in a year or two.

With the exception of Eriksen I don't think any other player has proved to be better than any of Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll, Kane or Pritchard. All that game time that could of developed our own players wasted.

Going to get beg rep for this but if scneiderlin is out of our price. How about song? Has been pretty solid at West Ham and has given the attacking players the assurance for them to get forward knowing he's mopping up behind them. He's used to the league and only on loan at West Ham I believe. We could do a lot worse

yes unless you have a theory where you can prove otherwise?
No theories, I am just asking the questions. If I look in the cristal ball though I can't see neither us nor West Ham near the top four at the end of the season.

I'm not looking at buying average players that will not improve us. We need to try and get a class player a Schniederlin or someone on that level. It will be difficult and if we can't then we wait.

I can't see Eriksen staying for long whatever happens. Kane on the other hand I can see playing for us for years. It depends what you mean by "challenge" we are a 2 leg tie away from a cup final. We are 2 points off 4th at Christmas. If you mean challenge for the PL, I can't see us ever winning the league the way modern football is. Only if we get sold to some oil prince billionaire, and what's the point in that really?

Yeah I agree, We need show patience with our current side and only invest in a few key positions not spend willy nilly and make wholesale changes.

It's a cliché but the table doesn't lie, everyone currently deserves the position they're currently in...The end of the season is a different matter all together.

I think if we can get 2 class cm's we can get CL this year. I think without 1 at least we will finish 5th at best.

Should have got him in the summer we knew his situation but more likely he wouldnt come cheap so we bought stambouli peanut wages.

Replace x with one of these:

Chaldi, Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue

and you have the exact same thing said 18 months ago

So are you happy with us at the moment or would you like to improve? Yes we've bought some players that have not worked. But we have also bought players that have been great. We sell the players that don't work out and replace them. Hopefully these do work out. If we can keep our best players while doing so we improve. I'm not talking of massive turnover of players, maybe 2 in and 3 or 4 out.

We need a Cb, mid and striker we may already have the players we need but unless Fazio, becomes a rock, a cm turns up to join mason and Bentalab and Ade or RS discover scoring again we need 3 players. Proberly also need a wing foward who can score with pace.

Of course i'd want improvement, but I doubt see how we would achieve that by buying any players that carry a 'pochettino premum' - Schneiderlin or J Rod are worth no where near what we'd have to pay.

We've missed Modric since he left - Schneiderlin is no Modric, except for his apparent 'value'

What annoys me most is that we fill our squad with b or c solutions.

We could do with quality players in every position except gk but we are still happy to collect bang average players and are crying that the wage bill is too high and no one wants our underperforming averagers

Can we afford the A solutions? And I definitely wouldn't say a lot of our players are bang average.

We have many very good players who are on very good wages and living a very good life in a very good city. I am pretty sure their lives are quite agreeable without win or appearance bonuses.
I want the type of player who sees Spurs as a stepping stone. Until Spurs are the final stone in the stream.

We have invested and look where it's got us.

That doesn't mean we did it right, just as not every financial investment comes off right. That doesn't mean that investors call it quits either, they just cut their losses and try again, which seems to be the course of action we're set to take (albeit not to the same extent).
