I'm a little bit ambivalent about this one. Half of me is jumping for joy. The softer side of me remembers the time I was standing in the pissing rain for autographs after a 0-0 draw against Utd and Daws was the chirpiest, most humble footballer I've ever met.

With regards to POTLs yellow info haven't we been trying hard to get this done anyway but Inter and LDS agent have been arsing us about?

Sad to see Dawson go, if he does, but maybe he doesn't particularly want to be 4th or 5th choice either and him and AVB/DL have come to an agreement where he can go if teams bid enough for him.

If we are fortunate enough to sign both blue and yellow. Are we going to put Ade out wide if they both find form? I can't see AVB using 4-4-2 to accommodate personnel.

Surely you could say the same sort of thing for several positions?

If Sandro and Parker find form do they both play or do we play a ballplayer alongside one of them?
If Gylfi and VDV find form does VDV move to the right?
If Gallas, Kaboul and Vertonghen find form do we go with wingbacks and 3 at the back?

I wouldn't worry about who will play and where, that's down to AVB to decide (i'm glad I don't have to make these decisions that's for sure). The most important thing is strength in depth. I still think we need 3 quality strikers anyway, so if Defoe leaves i'd like 1 more (maybe in Jan when Ade goes to ACN). We need plenty of competition and cover for places.

Exactly, and the one year we didn't expect a big signing, we signed Van der Vaart. So if we all just calm down and keep it on the down low, pretending that we don't expect anything, then maybe something magical will happen. That's right...we're going to trick the footballing fates. We will do some good business, I'm sure of that. Clearing the decks; and the Modric deal hopefully being concluded soon will pave the way for a few irons to come to fruition. AVB will be backed, I have no doubt about that. Doesn't mean we should be expecting dream stuff like Llorente etc, but anybody who thinks we are going to considerably weaken the squad for AVB's first full season in charge, and off the back of what we've achieved recently, needs to waken up a little.
