Alas if only Conte hadn’t stopped us getting Eriksen back… :-(
I thought it was said by itk at the time that it was Eriksen's signing on fee and wage demands that put us off the idea?

Not sure that either Conte or Levy are to blame and if anyone is to blame, maybe it's Eriksen and his agent.

I'm kind of conflicted about Theate.

I personally don't rate him myself, I always think he looks quite 'gangly' and out of control on the pitch i.e. lacking composure. I think to the eye at least he looks more Sanchez than Vertonghen.
That said though, the statistics tell a different story in that he really strives in is progressive carries/passes out of defence.

Also, his main strength out of possession is his ability in 'defending backwards', as in making tackles while chasing down balls fed down the flanks i.e. recovery tackles.

These two strengths are probably the most important requirements for an Ange centre back. So the signing would make great sense in that respect.

This would also lean into the newly touted 'data-led/moneyball' system we're implementing as I'd personally classify Theate as not easy on the eye, but statistically impressive.
I can understand why you don't rate him because there have always been doubts about him.
Standard Liège gave him away for peanuts (150.000 euro I think) because they thought he was not good enough for the Belgian Pro League.
He was lucky to get a trial period at Oostende , the coach liked him, they played hig pressing football and after 1 season he went to Italy.
He clearly wasn't rated by Roberto Martinez either.
The new national coach Tedesco believes in him, plays hig pressing football with 4 at the back and Theate (mostly at LB, parts at CB) was very good in both matches against Sweden and Germany.
I haven't seen him play in Italy and Rennes so can't comment on that but for the Red Devils he was a revelation. He is a pain in the ass to play against, he doesn't get tired , has speed and knows what he can and what he can't.
The way he keeps proving people wrong says a lot about his mentality. I like him

Not seen anything on outgoings, which I think are just as important as incomings.
Is this because we are waiting for the end of window rush?
Not sure I’d start a post in this thread with “not seen …” nor ask an open ended non-ITK question either … 👀

If Madison is a 3/10 chance of happening I’d give Sancho a 1/10

he was in the building when leaving city prior to Dortmund with his dad

we offered 30k a week player wanted I think 50/60

daniel told him to take it or leave it

To be fair to Daniel, I'm sure he'd be willing to meet him halfway and stretch to £40k now.

Bullet dodged with Sancho who is probably the most overrated player since Wilshere.

I always find that ITK takes all the context out of things. Sure, Levy is a dick, but I doubt he said take it or leave it, which is a bit harsh. Always interesting to see information filter through the lens of people that have an opinion on the person they are talking about. I think in this case, Levy was correct, and Sancho was being greedy.

I hope the talk of a GK and LCB are true and they are finalised soon. We can't afford to wait around especially when all our rivals are just steaming ahead.

Ah the familiar feeling of early preseason hope and promise. The warm glow of being mentioned in the same sentence as quality signings like Sancho and Maddison, just as season tickets are up for renewal.

Unless the Bald One has miraculously developed longer arms, I suspect we will be shopping around for much less well known players at a fraction of the price closer to deadline day.

I hope I’m wrong, I want to believe, but I’ve seen this played out too many times now and Levy will always find a way to nause it up in the most incredulous way imaginable. He can’t help himself.

Sorry for sounding negative, I appreciate the info guys as always.

What does this mean?
Means almost next to no chance for landing Sancho.

Also there was a lot of ITK speculation and rumors that Sancho visted us before going to Dortmund from City. I definitely remember his name being thrown around on here. Never materialized.

I actually rate Sancho, saw glimpses towards end of the season that the talent was still there. I think he would be a really good signing……. If it was a position we needed filling ( unless son is going or moving positions)

To be fair ST renewal deadline was before any of these rumours came out. And, also, there’s a giant fucking waiting list that will gladly step in to the shoes of anyone who doesn’t renew (which of course those in power know).

I reckon there's a player still in Sancho with the right manager/club etc but fee & wages kill any deal so it's a moot point

They might try & throw him in as part of an offer for H but they can f**k off with that!

Ooooh sancho 1/10… Maddison 3/10

I wonder who the second of our 10 signings will be.

I like misreading things
