I think players like Dier, Winks and Sanchez kept getting 2nd chances because we failed to buy replacements, not because any of our previous managers especially thought they could rejuvenate them. Conte and Jose made positive comments about Dier but I'm sure they would've upgraded on him in a heartbeat given the chance. Alli strikes me as the one that successive managers thought they could rehabilitate into a top talent and failed.

I imagine he's more talking about Ndombele and maybe Lo Celso, GIl, Reguilon, etc. Players that might suit a more technical, possession minded coach but were poor fits for our last few managers.

I just read that Laporte isn't interested in joining us. It does align with the info here as I'd imagine he would be profiled as a very experienced defender. It also aligns with the info that we aren't lingering on any unlikely targets.
Read that where?

Or means A as in Ange and it's a fat finger on a keyboard?

I mean it was the worst source ever who said that about Laporte

If Ange can coach some of our deadwood into something that is acceptable then it will be like the second coming of Christ, because with some of them it will be nothing short of a miracle. Just hope we do not waste a window and time on some that certainly do not deserve it.

Then do a loan with a large fee and a smaller purchase clause to get around it.
I reckon people are getting wise to that now. Sell on clauses might now say that if player goes on loan for a fee and then sold afterwards pursuant to an option or obligation then any fee for sale includes initial loan fee. That would stop people gaming it.

What? No? I don’t wish I was a Sports lawyer. What are you on about. I love selling derelict job centres in Grimsby.

Whatever you think managers since Poch, the one thing they weren’t were arms around the shoulder managers who would work to improve players who didn’t fit their system. Jose tried a bit with Ndombele but his heart wasn’t in it - we just didn’t have anyone else. There’s no reason a good coach can’t improve some of our underperformers - if you had said Walker and rose were going to be the best full back pairing in the league when Poch took over you would have been laughed out of town

Haha, you don't have to be itk to know it's the the extremely talented, yet feckless, £60million man on huge wages no one else wants to buy.

Thankfully pre-season will be plenty of time for Ange to see that particular prospect is a waste of everyone’s time!

He’s like the ex everyone thinks they can change 😂

I thought he did that against someone like Blackpool or Hull and it was Lloris that did it against Chelsea, although after going to VAR a second penalty wasn’t given.
Lloris did it against City when he saved the penalty and then one of them dived over him which went to VAR and wasn't given I thought Gomes did it against Chelsea but I could be wrong or he did it twice which is more than possible

I just can’t see how anyone can look at Dier and Sanchez and believe they are capable of being coached into Ange’s system. They are too ponderous on the ball - if they even get it under control in the first place which is no means certain, especially with Sanchez.

So I really can’t believe that Ange has seen something in either of them and the reference must be to others (I can make a case for most of the others, from a technical perspective and being coached to move the ball quicker).

Or is that just wishful thinking ?
Dier could play the defensive midfielder - the others need to move on snd I mean le celso, Regulion and sessegnon. I’d kind to see Ange try with Ndombele though

I read this bit as ‘I love Sports Direct in Grimsby’ for some reason

Music to the owners ears though. It’s what they wanted; no need to spend much

But it's not just at spurs, if ndom was all that then Napoli would want to keep him, his underlying issues are too great to be resolved imo.
