I completely agree. He shouldn't be allowed to sell any players really, or spend any of the club's money.

But that in itself does highlight the problems with having an interim/short term manager.

But isn't that why we have a DOF? And that's a genuine question - is Franco just there to get deals over the line or is he supposed to be instrumental in recruitment/sales in the long term?

I believe he deals with the agents and his role is to get the deals done. His network recommend him players

What's a "leeff bak"? is it a new term? having only watched tottenham games i'm not sure i've come across one of those before.

wait wait, now i remember. We had one of those a few years ago, you know, the one who scored loads of goals and plays right wing for Madrid.

Is he the new Dutch wonderkid at Utrecht?

Does it even matter how long Tim is here for? I thought one of the main advantages of Baldini (and DOFs in general) is that it allows a bit of continuity for the playing squad?

Yes and no, he's the former technical director, integral part of the club and currently manager with a Director of Football and the Chairman above him - it's not Sherwood spending the money. Maybe we should wait until we have a more permanent manager in place, but it's still Baldini's (and Levy's and Sherwood's) to plan long-term.

That might make sense if the DOF was indoctrinated into the fabric of the club, and was bringing continuity to the long term on-pitch philosophy, but in this situation, it could be argued that TS has a greater understanding of these things than Baldini.
The one thing that TS has said that really resonated with me is that the club should have a cohesive philosophy from top to bottom, which influences how the academy players are taught to play, and the transfer policy.
I'm struggling to understand how Baldini fits into this, and am genuinely concerned that our transfer policy is working in isolation from what the head coach is trying to do on the pitch.

Danny Murphy on @Talksport - Berbatov WILL Leave Fulham in 24 hrs....

I know it's split opinion but to my mind, signing Berba is a no-lose situation. If he's rubbish and offers nothing then it cost us 1 million quid. Either way we still have same strikers we had before until JD leaves.

However, and I personally believe this is more likely, he thrives off of playing for a CL spot rather than fighting relegation and has a number of inspiring performances, scoring some goals along the way.

He's still an excellent player and I personally would have been pissed if he'd gone to Arsenal or any other team fighting for top 4.

It does seem from the outside that nobody really knows who's in charge or what's going on but hopefully Levy's inner circle know what they're doing. As far as I know Baldini is still in charge of transfers though, I'm not sure what else there would be for him to do at the club.

I have said this before, if anything Sherwood is the better fit for DOF and quite possibly should have been given that role. He doesn't have Baldini's contacts but that is seemingly the only thing Baldini brings to the role, the ability to smooth talk people in transfer negotiations but brings little else to the table.

In fact, in the summer I would have no problem in getting rid of Baldini, making Sherwood fully fledged DOF/Technical Director and lets say getting Van Gaal as manager. Would Sherwood accept that though?...

To be honest who bloody knows. But seeing as Baldini was there when we signed Capoue (for example) and now we seem to want to get rid, it doesn't look like Baldini is calling the shots player-wise, and if he is he isn't doing it particularly efficiently.

*sigh*

I doubt Van Gaal would! ;)

If that was the case AVB would still be here.

There really doesn't appear to be any long term strategy in place at all at the moment, and I think having Sherwood on an 18 month contract highlights that.

To be honest, with regards to what's going on on the pitch, we've never had a long term strategy.
