if we buy Oscar and Giggidy-Gylfy, then i reckon VDV could be on his way out. I hope not as he's our talisman, but those links to Hamburg bubbling away on the periphery have the makings of speculation that could turn out to be true.

Does VDV really have the stamina to play a high tempo, pressing game? If Hamburg or whoever offered enough, considering he is 29, might be good business to cash in and go for another player.

Take nothing away from him though, been excellent for us.

This is just my opinion. I honestly think AVB will switch us to 433.

My mate is a Liverpool season ticket holder and drives up from London for every match. Obviously he reads Liverpool forums. He's adamant Defoe was on his way to Liverpool in Jan but his own agent stalled the deal! I believe defoe changed agents after that happend.

Anyway the reason why I mentioned this now... I think Defoe will struggle to play in a 433! Time will tell....

I think sturridge would suit our system. T'internet sayin he's 1.88m. He is pretty quick and solid with both feet. At least he will have some other attributes when his pace dwindles.....unlike monsier defoe

If Sturridge is 1.88m then I am Peter Crouch (but better in the air)

I thought AVB liked to play a possession based passing game, surely that rules out greedy balls?

True, but Sturridge can be coached. Defoe for England is not the selfish Defoe for Tottenham, and the same could apply for this guy.

To be a forward and winger he must have nous when it comes to movement. I would be disappointed if he was the main forward we bought, but id be happy if he brought in as part of the squad and perhaps an alternative to Remy.

Sorry if posted but:

Runar on COYS:

"So I heard, from another source, today that Gylfi will be getting 80,000 pounds per week. Are we breaking our wage limit ? "

Also:

"Just heard again from a very good source. Gylfi is a Tottenham player, the hold up is with Hoffenheim but everything seems to be confirmed.

This is not the same source that told me about the 80k wages... this is a much better source but didn't know about the wages when I asked."

80 grand a week. I find that hard to believe. But would be a reason why Liverpool aren't favourites to sign him seeing as they are trying to cut back

No way would Levy agree to pay a 22yr old with 6 months prem experience 80k. 50k possible but still seems high....

50k is possible considering we got him for only 8 million, that's dirt cheap for one of these young attacking midfielders.

I dont see what this has to do with anything...

one out of three he got right in that. everyman and his dog knows verts is coming and did so well before then , just down to ajax trying to get their way to saving some money on a clause! on 14th june it was really done to what maybe 3 names - avb, blanc and possibly deschamps as outside bet. could be a lucky guess and fact itks come on here and have to boast about fact their right sends off red flag for me.. feeding the ego but thats the way they operate i suppose.

muchos apologies if already been posted......Sky Sports understands former Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson is poised to seal his move to Tottenham in the next 24 hours.
The Icelandic international is expected to be unveiled as new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas' first signing on Wednesday.

How's our luck? Ajax are the reason for the Verts hold up, Hoffenhein are the reason for Gyfis hold up...

Why can't everyone else be as easy and straight forward to deal with as Levy?
