72m for a striker who has scored 20+ for just 1 PL season seems so silly...
As for as Barkley, more than happy for us yo get him. He will be a upgrade over Sissoko and arguably Lamela too...

Not a fan of him but.... Lukaku is 24 years old and his strike rate is 67 goals in 150 PL matches and has had seasons of 17 for West Brom, and 15,18 and 24 for Everton.

In today's market....£72m seems about right.

He's a good player but for that money I'd want somebody capable of winning CL semis or finals, and I don't see that from Lukaku any time soon.

lukaku's price maybe too high, but kind of expected in today's market.
It just shows how lucky we have Kane (and Alli)

Don't see how you can play anything other than counter attack with lukaku as he isn't very good with the ball at his feet. Trying to play intricate one touch play with him is a bit of a waste of time. I guess Chelsea play on the counter a lot so might work out. You'd think they could do a lot better than lukaku though.

Yeh £70 mil is about right considering his contract left and performance. Powerful, can score but not the best for other duties like linking play and tracking back, Everton fans also complaint he phones in performances when not in the mood.

As said above reasonable signing but with Chavs money you'd think they would do more.

Happy with that trade for Chelsea. Coata is a better all round player than lukaku

I'm gobsmacked at the acceptance that Lukaku is worth £72 million even in this market. The guy is the epitome of a flat track bully, has no discernible skill set (scoring is a singular, not a set). He can't pick a pass, can't link up play, is heavily reliant on others picking the perfect pass, has a tendency to fade out of games when he's not "feeling it" and is prone to fairly protracted barren spells. It's funny how you hear little comment when he goes on one of his 8-9 game barren runs, but Kane not hitting the target in 4 is a crisis.

Don't get me wrong, his goal return shows that he is a very decent striker, but £72 million? Not a fucking chance. That's just £17 million short of the highest transfer in history!

£72 million you spend on a game changer, he's not that, he feeds off the service from game changers.

£50 million tops for me, and it is only that due to the "current market."

Do people need to pester JJ every time a Spurs player opens their mouth? Literally nothing from what I saw of Rose's interview suggested he'd be off ffs

To be fair, he can ignore them if he wants to. He chooses they way of the tweet.

Early in the summer, I think. Wouldn't rule out anything at this point, personally. I'm kind of in the mindset that one of Rose or Davies might leave, but it's really only stipulations on my end at this point.

Interesting that the ITK (BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT :)) is that we are the only ones to lodge official interest in Ross Barkley. The top teams are not exactly beating down the doors to get him. I agree that he would be an upgrade for the squad, but I can't get too excited about getting him. We shouldn't overpay for him.

As for the Lukaku info - at 72m they are welcome to him. We should make an offer for Batashuyi

Can't see why we would be interested in Barkley, unless maybe see with his physical attributes he could be moulded (with a lot of Poch coaching) into a long term Dembele replacement? Cue the wtf ratings but Barkley does have that dembele-esque ability to glide past players and although not as physically dominant he's not an easy player to knock off the ball

If we stay with the 3-4-2-1 then he's clearly behind Dele and Eriksen, and I feel Son is the superior player by quite a distance at this juncture as well as being a change of pace to the other 2 and we are never going to spend the 40+ million for a rotation player
