He's back up or cover for central midfield and plays at centre back only if there are 3. Also gives the ball away a lot, many times under no pressure.

That's all the reasons Mourinho was prepared to pay £50m in January.

Not a source that I can recall.......massive pinch of salt required?

I know him. He's certainly got contacts at the club, more former than current, and his record on transfers is not great. He does hear bits and pieces but he's terrible at interpreting them and hears what he wants to hear most of the time. In my opinion, of course.

gilly on simb: Jannsen gone apparently. Poch not remotely interested in keeping. Dier can go only if they give us rashford. This costa thing has legs. Love to have him.
Right so we're going to lose Walker AND Dier and take a player we dont need in exchange. Happy Days.

We could do with a forward with pace, we tried for a few last summer.
He's an out and out CF though, his performances playing wider are not great. Whilst it would be nice to have him as a back up to Kane, its not worth sacrificing a first teamer.

Plus we are going to look like the Manchester clubs BITCH!!

If Poch thinks we can let Dier go and I hope he does, I'd be happy with the swap.

I doubt that ITK on Dier. Poch has recently praised him, talked about him being a player important to the system and has allowed Spurs to play three at the back (due to versatility), and hinted he could be captain one day.

Clearly any striker/forward is playing a very firm second fiddle to Kane - Rashford won't be content with bits and pieces off the bench which again begs the question of why we'd let Janssen go or who would fulfil that remit better

Not advocating it at all but if the ITK suggested Daley Blind as part of a deal for Dier then I could see some semblance of logic behind that considering he has occupied similar roles for Utd.

Bollocks. He's got the 5th highest pass accuracy percentage this year averaging more than 86% while being the player passing the 2nd most times on average per game over the entire season.... Add to that that one of those players above him is Lesnisk making him de facto 4th. Remarkable when also considering he has the joint second most minutes.

I can't see Dier going. Poch would play him as goalie if he had to. I think he loves Dier's attitude, especially during matches like the 'battle of the bridge' last year.

Having said that, impossible I'm sure, but I'd love us to sign that Dick Van Dyke guy from Southampton to play in our back 3 and let Dier fight it out with Wanyama for CM whilst also being cover for the whole back line if needed.

Even though he wasn't as good as the previous season and made more mistakes than usual, I still feel a lot happier when Dier is in our team.

As for Rashford, obviously a non starter but would take in a heartbeat.
