Exactly. We're not going to be able to sign any players that will improve the first XI in January, and let's face it, do we really have a gap in the squad that urgently needs filling? No. I'd like to hear peoples' counter-arguments.

Agree. No way can we bring in someone that is better than we already have that will bed in straight away. Only position I see us needing is another striker. Personally I would take a shot at Berahino as we can sell him on if it doesn't work

Quality is hard to come by in January but what's beyond frustrating is that we hear this every window which results in stocking fillers in the summer and nobody in January... often with outgoings that exceed our incomings. That was also fine and well when we had a bloated squad but not now when we're short of numbers. We need to follow Arsenal's model and add 1 may be 2 quality players each season if and when needed, whilst keeping our best players and only adding stocking fillers if we need someone who's versatile and can cover several positions.

In other words, 2 players for every position.

We're not short on numbers. We're short on quality in depth. Particularly at striker and AM.

Pretty sure all the loot and more went on sissoko. The millions we missed out on by going out in group stages of champs league too won't help

Maybe. It's certainly better than last season IMO, but I agree it would be good to have another quality AM in the squad.
