Unless Gards has come on here and said that about Green and not just taken from his twitter, I think this is a mix up.

Gards @Gards44 · 13h
Touted to go to them! This deal may drag if saints don't get targets they want! Lwf a new name been mentioned by a few people Julian green

Gards @Gards44 · 13h
But I am unsure on that! Still in for a striker but the deal has to be right! We won't sign one if all 3 stay!

Gards @Gards44 · 13h
Update from yesterday! MS is a tough deal! They obviously don't want to lose anymore players ad we won't pay. 27m! There are players being

This was the order of Gards updates yesterday starting from Bottom going to Top. Personally think he meant to put the third update before the 2nd one since he continuing sentences don't make sense.

If that's the case then he is saying people have mentioned JG but he is unsure if true. Or could be unsure if any good in which case I am retarded.
I have a deep sense of distrust and caution towards anyone who uses an exclamation mark to end every one of their sentences.

So we're touting some of our players to work into the Schneiderlin deal according to Gards?

Makes sense.

Spurs have a massive squad – we took 22 players on the US tour to evaluate – and a further 11 players (in brackets below) were not taken and I assume have not been evaluated by Poch on the tour, so a total of 33 players :.

Friedel (+ Lloris, Vorm )
Walker, Naughton, Fredericks, Rose, Davies, Fryers (+ Assou-Ekottu)
Kaboul, Dawson, Veljkovic (+ Vertonghen, Chirches )
Capoue, Mason; Holtby Carroll, (+ Bentaleb, Dembele, Paulhino. Sandro)
Falque, Lamela, Eriksen,, Townsend , Lennon,, Ceballos (+ Chadli)
Kane, Soldado, (+ Adebayor).

So we need to sell or loan out about 8 players even if we want one in !

I can’t see us paying the £27m or even £20m which Southampton are demanding for MS – the only such player we have been linked with. The squad above includes 8 CM’s – so if MS is going to come to Spurs we need to offload one or more senior CM’s (to get rid oif his wages)..

IMO Southampton could be short of top players and the only way I could see a deal being done is to include 1 or 2 players going to Southamption with a much smaller amount of cash – not dissimilar in some ways to getting Davies and Vorm for Sugurdsson.

We won't pay 27 million but lets remember the quotes in the press were higher for Lallana and Lovren than what they ended up going for...so there's every chance we could still get Schneiderlin in a deal worth around 20 million if Poch wants him enough -which I hope and expect he does.

Pretty sure both Lallana and Lovren were quoted at £5m more than the figure they went for (AL - £30m, DL - £25m) and even then those headline figures were inclusive of add-ons. I'm sure a deal could be struck around £20-22m with add ons of around £4-5m, and then if Levy works some part-ex magic like with Gylfi (inflated price as part of the deal) we could end up getting a better deal than most who dealt with Soton this summer.

Schneiderlin is pretty straightforward to me: we're not paying £27m, or indeed any combination of players or cash that's anything approaching that level.

Ironically, having been there since year dot, he probably deserves to get his big move & a fat contract, but I reckon we can fend alright without him. I'm gonna keep saying it but Schneiderlin in Poch's system created very similar numbers to Bentaleb in Sherwood's; and we've plenty of options in CM as well.

Don't disagree - in fact after thios tour I'd suggest that Ryan Mason as well as Nabil Bentaleb could do a similar job to MS. So I think the question could become whether Poch wants MS that much and whether a players & cash deal can be struck which makes sense to us. Otherwise I'd leave Mason & Bentaleb to share that role - and maybe even Carroll as well.

NON spurs ITK (but connected in a way)

QPR face competition for Rafa Van der Vaart. Saints are interested too.

I'd have him back personally, but im a soft fucker
If it seemed like he was going anywhere near those 2 fuckers, I'd want Levy on the case straight away.

This is only my own opinion, but I suspect that Pochettino actually ended up rating our present CM's higher than he expected, thus not needing new CM's as badly as he thought.

As good as Mason has looked I think we need to be careful that we don't build him up too quickly, like we did with Carroll. Speaking of the latter, I don't think he looks anywhere near good enough if I'm being honest.

Bentaleb certainly has some strong similarities with MS, but he's not at the level of him yet. Schneiderlin is simply a level above any of these options quality wise at the moment but Bentaleb would surely rotate nicely with Schneiderlin in our new look set up IMO.

He's recently said he isn't interested in a loan move anywhere as he wants to stay and fight for a first team spot at Bayern as it's his childhood club. Can't really see him wanting a move away regardless of the club on offer

Pretty sure it was Robbie Keane who said that, mate.

Sure. For me Paulinho could really flourish alongside Capoue, so I don't get the Schneiderlin necessity.

I'd suggest that the main difference between MS and Bentaleb/Mason is experieince, I would agree it might well take both the youngsters a season to become as good as MS, so the question becomes 'what's it worth to get the player we want/need a year earlier than we could by developing our own young players'.

If a players + cash deal can be done, we may get MS, otherwise I'm not sure we'll want to pay the amount Southamptoin want

Papers are painting it that 'Arry is pushing hard for Rafa.....as much as i love Rafa i have no issue with Levy letting him pass this time around.

Its the passing bit we need inmidfield - something which Paulhino doesn't do well but MS/Bentaleb/Mason do so much better

Disagree.

Paulinho will only ever look good in a three man midfield.

In fact he could well be the odd one out under Poch and I actually think this is were the MS money could come from.

Paulinho in beside Capoue is just too light weight and doesn't offer enough passing ability either, and now Lamela is going to be a regular starter I'm struggling to see where he fits in.

I like Paulinho and he offers a serious goal threat from midfield but for the balance of the team he needs to be played in a three.

Unless we're going to use him correctly I don't see the point in keeping him.

Kaboul's a cripple and Dawson is clearly not good enough (much as we love him). We definitely need a CB. A world class one would transform us right now, I really believe that.
I agree, hence my reference to one being sold, released ot retired.
We'll need a new one, but i cant see us purchasing one until we know a space has opened up.
I'd happily retain both Chiriches and Vertonghen and go for two no nonsense type defenders with pace.

And lo! It came to pass, herbert A makes a comment that herbert B can't let slide, which begets herberts C and D to join in….. we're about to get 3 or 4 pages on Paulinho. Paulfuckinginho.
