The Football365 transfer blog (I know - keep reading) picked up that apparently AVB will get £50m to spend but it will come from the sales of Modric and VDV - with the ITK about serious cash coming in, could this be a smokescreen to make sure that people don't put their prices up? Or, are we seriously looking at sell-to-buy as the only way that a major overhaul will happen?
I'd like to believe that Levy is prepared to make a serious effort to enable AVB to build a team for the future - I'm not sure if I want it to be at the expense of two of our most exciting (on their day) players. But, if it means that a new manager has the freedom to assemble a squad that can win the league, I think I'd be OK with it.
I really can't see us selling VDV and Modric, we must have offered AVB some financial incentive to build his own squad, not many mangers would take a job with a top team where they were told you must sell to buy.

Wasn't there ITK saying that Lennon was going nowhere? I'd like to think that AVB's 2 players for every position policy would mean that Lennon will need to improve his consistency and end product and finally become the player he has always threatened to be!

And most importantly his fitness level. I really like Lennon, but last season he couldn't get going before a new injury struck him. I hope a loooong vacation has helped him a bit.

I honestly can't imagine that is true. We've had £30m+ bids for players over the past season or two (aguero, rossi). Maybe that money went to stadium or elsewheres?
I've always felt that the cash was there - but only if Levy feels that the deal is right. I like the feel of the Sig deal - we outbid someone for once - I hope this is the sign of things to come.

lennon is a vital asset to have. his pace drives people on the defensive and whether he starts or comes on from bench who cares as long as he stays. a vital squad player imvho.

i also feel one area we really were let down last year above any other was we had nothing from bench to come on and change games and give us a chance. few more top signings and we can go places

Ah, I see our new bright spark 'r_baker' disagrees with my opinion that the item of 'ITK' under discussion was bullshit. He neglects to say why he disagrees, of course, but then he's an expert on bullshit. After all, he claimed earlier in this very thread that Malaga were a long way from finishing fourth in La Liga, apparently totally ignorant of the fact that last season they finished, er, fourth—as was pointed out to him with some relish.

Chill out dude...its only a forum.

I completely agree, I just hope he isn't rushed back and consequently injured again!

TBH, I've always thought his best asset (and Bale's for a while) was running across the edge of the penalty area and drawing fouls - there are games where they pwn the defenders that are marking them and just need to keep running at them to get them to pick up two yellows. It's a nightmare for the defenders because they either have to take the yellow or let them past - either way, we are laughing. It is particularly useful when they are having to double up on each of them - now that Walker is also a threat - we need to use them to open up teams more!

Yeah, from me :)

I have a friend who works at Carpet Right, which apparently is owned by someone on the Arsenal board

Anyway, Walcott to Chelsea for £18m (I think) is what I've heard

So, anyway, we'll see

Just out of interest, does the guy who owns Carpet Right tell all its employees who Arsenal are buying and selling, or only a select few?

Quick question guys:
If we sold Modric and bought Falcao with all of the money and used Huddlestone to take Modric's spot in CM.

Would you take that?

I would.

Kind of what I was thinking above - I don't want to see Modric leave BUT, if it allowed AVB to bring in two players who would revolutionise the team (or even one superstar) then I am coming round to it. Two stipulations: 1) Not for less than Chelsea were willing to pay (£40m?) 2) Not to a competitor in the league.
I think the ITK about £35m+a decent player --> Real would satisfy that for me.

Isn't something massive going to happen? Still waiting....

Wasn't Alan Brazil on talksport going to reveal something today that will blow our socks off? Or have I missed something?

So far we have recruited a manager we all knew we was going to get and signed a player who played for Swansea last season.

I'm still waiting for my world to rock ..

I honestly can't see Hudd staying. AVB likes his midfielders to be quick and mobile. Sadly Hudd is neither of these things.

It does seem that we are, unlike us, doing our transfer business before August.

It would make sense that Levy is holding back news of our new sponsors, investment etc so that the selling teams don't immediately add 5mill to the prices...

If we get Vert & Remy in before August this will have been a great window!

But he can pick a pass - I think that AVB will not want to clear out too many of the squad in one go, but, if a good offer comes in and there is a ready made replacement lined up, I can see your point.

Akqa keeps going on about a LV suitcase - no fucker but himself knows/cares what he's on about!

I thought the LV referred to Luncheon Vouchers. So the criptic refers to Fat Franks agent dragging him back to sign for us as he was so impressed by AVB trying to get him fit. :D
