Interesting how most of the ITK we have had lately has been about Lovren or Southampton players in general.

New manager came from Southampton.
New back room staff came from Southampton.
Southampton players are unhappy= more leaks to media and more agents being very open.
Many Spurs fans down South so potentially more 'links' with a club like Southampton.

I guess it was to be expected. There is probably also lots of guesswork and adding 2 and 2 together(and getting Southampton players as the answer) because of the circumstances above..

Throw in that Soton are dragging their ass to name a new manager....looked like it was going to be Koeman but on Monday i read an article about how they were looking to pull Brucey from Hull (would seem to be a pretty drastic change in direction to move from Poch to Bruce) and there are still other managers being linked as well.

Soton has said it won't sell anyone until they name a new manager yet seem to be in no rush to actually appoint one, meanwhile the manager the players liked has moved on and the big names on the squad are all connected to bigger clubs. Soton is sort of dangling in a spot where everything could go very badly very quickly for them and they are seemingly indifferent to resolving the issue.

They were always going to ask high premiums for all their players, especially from us. Look at Lallana. They wanted 25 mill for him. He's not even worth 10. I'd rather look at other options then overpay for a Southampton player.

Isn't it fair to say that an English creative midfielder, of which there are few, who was selected in the PL team of the year, and is going to the World Cup, is worth a lot more than 10 mill? Objectively speaking.

If we get Lovren who's the more likely of our current CB's to move on? My money would be on Dawson (bless his cottons) unless Kaboul's injury rumours are real.

Either way can't see us tieing this up until after the WC so brace yourselves for a summer of slow release ITK.

Uhh, no. Lallana is not worth 10mill. Being English should have nothing to with it. The whole english premium thing is really terrible for English football and the what amounts to an English superiority complex the FA has now adopted will end up one of the worst things to happen to the PL.

Business Economics. Its bad business to pay a premium just based on the fact the guy is english and bad for clubs to not allow them to sign foreigners for cheaper than it is to sign English players. In fact, its horrible business.

Anyway, not the thread for this. So im just going to say no to Lovren if Soton want a high premium. Go for someone else.

Not heard anything from him for a long time - wasn't sure if that was because he'd stopped posting (especially after Blue and Yellow) or if we just stopped reporting it?

In simplistic terms his increased value is just down to supply and demand, particularly when there is the requirement to have a minimum number of home grown players in your squad.

I agree that he shouldn't be worth £25 fucking million though.

Ideally you're right, but there are many other factors you aren't quite considering. But yes, not meant for this thread, and I don't blame you if you feel we should pursue other options given what Saints will likely charge.

POTL doesn't post any more. He took the pills, fashioned a noose then stabbed himself 23 times with a rubber knife when the Willian deal went tits.
