Agree completely, and they aren't the only ones.

As I've said before it's a buyers market and if you have to do a squad rebuild it's better to do it when everyone else is desperate for cash. There are quite a few clubs that have been spending way beyond their means over the last few years and are now struggling to pay wages and meet financial deadlines.
Italian club football seems to be in a particularly big pile of manure... And we have a DoF who knows that market inside out

Inters financial difficulties have been known for months. It’s no big surprise and after generating 170 million between Lukaku and Hakimi, they’re likely alright for a few weeks.

I think it could be more than that. Much like how Roman gifted Chelsea a bunch of cash, but it's sat there in the background - I expect their Conte investment was background debt to Sunin, and now they're massively in need of calling it in. Could well need to doubt that.
Allegedly Sunin put over $800m into Inter, and then leveraged $275m against their full stake as a loan over 3 years. Messy stuff.

Depends how desperate or flexible they are on this - I imagine they know that if they sell a few big names for big money, it's better than selling half the squad for a snip. Probably going to hold out for near 70 for Martinez, or we'll sit like a vulture over a wounded animal.

When I hear "everything is in place" or "ready to pull the trigger" history has taught me to brace for hearing "goal posts have been moved" or "3rd party ownership".

Great metaphor!

If you want to soften the Kane blow, a Martinez type signing is just the way to do it. If, and that’s a very big IF, Paratici pulls this off I would honestly be speechless.

Makes you wonder just how crazy Contes ££ & transfer demands were when we met with him.

Maybe things have changed, with the rumoured naming rights, and funds and how exploitable some Italian clubs are.

Don’t want to derail or go over old ground. It was rumoured Conte wanted quite an entourage. We said 5 man management team (of yours), rest us.

Sooooo, Martinez would be a great way of giving us the alternative way of playing and a new impetus. I’ve said before I’d like a rebuild and from my perspective all of them were fair game. Do it Spurs!

So when we were linked with Martinez and we all thought it was the manager (y)

I know it's a buyer's market at present, and we seemingly have funds to make some shrewd, opportunistic purchases as a result of the financial difficulties foreign clubs are having.
However, in terms of sales, surely that limits our options, I mean, who in Europe has money to spend, (other than some English teams?)

Well in essence a lot don't. That's why everyone is looking to trade players in the other direction. All the bigger teams are trying to move on their fringe players and everyone's finding it difficult. Our advantage over the likes of City and Chelsea who are both actively trying to move players on in order to buy is that our fringe players are on far less money wages wise, and it sickens me to say it but Mendes is involved finding clubs.

I suppose it could be said the ends justify the means with regards to Menses 'helping' with our sales.
I suppose my concern would be the fees we receive for the players.
I don't imagine us getting top dollar, and then Menses will scrape his cream off the top

This... I don't like.

Was wondering if/when it would come out that Mendes is more involved with our dealings than it might appear on the surface.

I think the ITK was that he was quite demanding and difficult to deal with. Have to go back and check that.

If, so. It wouldn't have come down to how much we were planning on spending but how Conte interviewed.

We also have a “benefit” in that the majority of our fringe players won’t be seeking CL football which expands our selling options for most of them.

Why does this upset you? What is the direct negative correlation between his potential involvement versus the product we put out on the field? If it is a means to an end, albeit one that is not ideal, what does it matter? What evidence do we have that this will somehow hurt us? I know the guy is a bit slimy and has too much influence over certain players and clubs, but you would’ve thought he was the babaoyega the way some harp on about him. Moreover, does Paratici strike anyone as a DOF who’d let the likes of Mendes wield undue influence that would put his plans and players at risk? Not me.
