Many billionaires as they get older actually give most of their money away. Joe Lewis is 76. There's only so much you can leave for the grandchildren.

As Carnegie once said, "a man who dies rich, dies disgraced."
I'd be happy to be at least a little bit embarrassed I'm tred of being proud with holes in me shoes.
Nice to be able to say that if Huddlestone and Parker go we won't miss them desperately which says a lot for our squad now, they are good players and I wish them all the best.

I have to disagree with this. If we're switching to a 4-3-3 formation, we'll need someone who can provide something a bit different in the final third. Some creativity, guile and subtlety. Bale on one side, striker in the middle and a Bernard type on the other side. So rather than signing a 'cover' winger, we actually need to acquire someone who can come straight into the 1st team. I'm not convinced Sig is the best player to play in that position. In a midfield 3 certainly, but in the final third our team is crying out for someone like Bernard.
Lennon?

He was player of the year when we signed him and someone we really needed. Plus he's been on stupid wages since Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham (all big over payers) so he would have walked in demanding a high salary.

With regards him to QPR its easy enough to sort, you give him £40k per week and £1.5m bonus above the team promotion bonus.

Exactly this. We sign the player of the year from the previous season and someone is amazed he's on 70k a week. What do they think he'd be on? He was great for us 1st year, big criticism is he tries to do to much, to be everywhere. With his experience you'd think he'd be perfect to be on the bench and games we're winning bring him on last 20 mins and sit in front of the back 4. But judging from last year despite the experience he doesn't seem to go in much for tactics and positional sense. Probably therefore time to cash in.

He provides neither - creativity, guile and subtlety. He is useful squad player but won't add any of the above. His best position is as a genuine winger in a 442. To play as part of a 433 you need the front 3 to all score goals and Lennon has never been a goalscorer.

I want a bmw m3. I need a new kitchen.
If a cut price m3 came up for sale are you saying it would make sense to buy that instead of the kitchen?
Paulinho looks a fantastic signing but come the close of the window, if that stopped us buying a striker I'll be bitter.

I would agree if that was the case - im just not sure it works like that. 1) Paulinho wasnt a cut price anything and 2) im a firm believer in what people have attested to with regards to if the right player, for the right price comes along we will do what we can to purchase them

I just dont think it will be a case of - ahhhhh we were 2 mil short of Villas price for benteke - if we had got Paulinho for 15 then we could have had both players.

In business its all about value. If, for example, Benteke is not work 20mil then he isnt going to be worth that regardless of what we have spent on other players.

I don't seem to remember our front two of Defoe and Ade scoring that many either..

The way Levy works, the main bulk of the stadium will be covered with naming rights.

Yes we will have to suffer a bit on our budget, but I doubt it will take a decade.

Anyway lets all just hope we can get players in that will make a difference, and if we don't hope that the squad we do have don't miss so many sitters with the little service they get, and propel us to regular CL footy.

That's why Levy is so keen on the youth system. Bring players through and not spend that much money while the stadium is being paid for.

Perhaps you're right, but the fact we have a player of his ilk should not be overlooked. His speed and directness are a powerful tool even in a 433, but yes we should expect more goals from him.

Call me mental, but I actually think Lennon could play in the midfield three as an attacking midfielder rather than the front three. He works hard and defensively I think he's very good.

I think he was a bargain tbh. You saw how much man City paid for Fernandinho. Paulinho is younger and has Fernandinho's spot in the Brazil starting 11.
Its a shame there doesn't seem to be any top drawer strikers out there with 15-17m buy out clauses as Levy would be on that like a fat kid in a sweet shop. He seems unable to do big deals any more and only seems to be proactive with buy out fees like Dembele and Paulinho.
Other than those most other players we've signed recently with open fees have been around or under 10m with the players being in the final stages of their contracts.
Lloris, Vertonghen, Siggy, Dempsey, Holtby, Freyers....

Every potential big transfer had fallen to peices. Notably Leandro and Moutinho.
Also Willian, Llorente, and probably quite few more.

But perhaps if he wasn't covering Walker's arse all the time then he would do so

Perhaps you're wrong and that's an excuse. Perhaps that's part of his job. Perhaps he is fine as he is and we could use some additional options. Perhaps this is not really ITK discussion. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

This is the most pathetic post I've seen on here. And that's saying something after some of the posts I have seen.
Well if your happy to see that standard of player as a first team regular in our team then I afraid your ambition for our club is very limited. Im fed up seeing this kind of player littering our tea . Its for just this reason we have fared so badly over the last 30/40 years. Freund Ohara Livermore Jenas all very enthusiastic and wholehearted but all of them sub standard and not in the class of the players I want to see here. Roberts was wholeheated too but was a footballer too, those players mentioned would like to have been like him, but were not fit to tie his laces neither were they fit to tie the laces of Perryman who again was a wholehearted player with limited ability, but his ability was far greater then those mentioned. So sorry if my jibe upset you but it doesn't change my view of Livermore.

Without wishing to sound too harsh, but if that's your feeling about Spurs then I would suggest you jog on to another club.

Unbelievable Jeff.

He has never done anything to my HT beverage.

I don't think I ever said he was good enough for Spurs? And for the record I think he is off anyway so your tea will be safe from littering(y)
