Well we made a official bid back in early june (you can check my history) I did not think it was done just yet though.

There are rumblings of dembele finally having surgery. The surgery because of its nature would put him out for 6 months. I cant confirm for def yet though.

there is a small announcement due from the club but I thought to do with a youngster loan or ferdinand.

I see Siggy making up the 6 players that play in the front 3, although isn't it 2 players for each position and some utility players which surely Siggy can be classed as?

Gylfi is primarily a central player really, but he can play off the left as well. He shouldn't be fixed into one position as he's pretty versatile.

That's a big assumption about who the "we" is in the equation.

I know nothing, but in quite a few threads so far this summer I've constantly said we'll buy McCarthy. He will provide important cover/challenge the 3 in midfield for a starting place. It's quite conceivable that Sandro may not be up to full speed, Paulinho struggle for a while with the pace and Dembele be dodgy over his injury. Just imagine what would have happen if 2 or even 3 of these things above turn out that way. This guy has Prem experience and will provide the extra bit of cover.

It does mean that Hudd, Parker and JL can all be shifted (with my thanks and best wishes).

But his natural position is in the middle, he doesn't look comfortable on the wing until he is inside or in the box and we are after a wing forward

So far in preseason he has started in cm of a 433

It sounds to me that we don't have a set budget. If we see value in a young player that wants to come, in a position we need & could produce a return on investment/hold value then we'll go for it, as long as it's not £30m or something else ridiculous of course.

I think we all agree that our starting 11 wasn't really the problem last season, it was the fact that when we needed to change things during a game I would look at the bench and I couldn't see how we could improve other just fresher legs which seemed to be the case a lot of the times last season where we made a sub just to make it, with paulinho, mcarthy and possibly chadli coming in it means that players like lennon, sandro and dembele can get that rest when necessary and we have the option to start with other players when some drop off the boil

Personally I'm not convinced its 100% true as Vertonghen nd Lloris made sense and Paulinho is maybe the Moutinho that AVB never got. However we have needed competition for Lennon and Bale and another striker for ages. Siggy and Holtby both played wide last season because we could ign them for good value, not because its their best position!

McCarthy coming in would almost be offset financially if we could sell Parker, Hudd and Livermore. You can see the sense that makes in Levy's head. He's an improvement on any of the aforementioned and perhaps the thinking by the club is perhaps to give Carroll if possible a season on loan at a prem club or top championship club.
