Well we made a official bid back in early june (you can check my history) I did not think it was done just yet though.

There are rumblings of dembele finally having surgery. The surgery because of its nature would put him out for 6 months. I cant confirm for def yet though.

there is a small announcement due from the club but I thought to do with a youngster loan or ferdinand.
Real shame about Mousa if that is the scenario. Why we didn't do it 2 months ago I don't know. You should of got your dettol out mate!

Seems a bit drastic to spend £15m+ on a CM just to cover an injury when we have Holtby and others who are more than potentially good enough.

I know nothing, but in quite a few threads so far this summer I've constantly said we'll buy McCarthy. He will provide important cover/challenge the 3 in midfield for a starting place. It's quite conceivable that Sandro may not be up to full speed, Paulinho struggle for a while with the pace and Dembele be dodgy over his injury. Just imagine what would have happen if 2 or even 3 of these things above turn out that way. This guy has Prem experience and will provide the extra bit of cover.

It does mean that Hudd, Parker and JL can all be shifted (with my thanks and best wishes).

We should get 15 million from those sales which would cover the McCarthy fee.

Babylon would explode if we signed another midfielder before getting a striker.
A bit tired since it is morning over here so I didn't get this at first.

Was thinking that you gave some reference to some obscure reggae song about Babylon exploding.

Jah love man

Please don't tell b22 about McCarthy!

We will spend if necessary. Last time we can do it.

I also would not take much notice of the phrase we cannot afford his wages. We do still have a wage cap but that has got bigger.

of course we will not do a city and we will not do a pompey.

Haha the old medical team. kaboul was out for a season because the medical team risked him. I have zero faith,in fact get me some dettol and plasters I shall have a crack at the job myself.
(Not that he needed to to be fair)
Thanks for the info fella.....but does anyone else feel fucking terrified with the physios/doctors we have at the club.....It's a bit like buying a Ferrari, and letting your dad have a go at changing the timing belt.

Fair play to them for the whole Muamba thing, but Christ, most first aiders could've probably done the same if they had a defib and a heart specialist jumping in to lend a hand.

What op is this Coopsie?!

Mentioned it in detail in the Benteke thread yesterday mate.. Exostosis on my heel & achilles, just had the achilles cut & detached, heel scraped, achilles scraped & reattached, now for 3 to 6 months of healing before getting the same procedure on my right foot lol. . Should make it interesting next month when the wife & me head upto London for a nice romantic anniversary.

Be ridiculous for Dembele to have surgery now as opposed to right at the end of the season.

Not really.. He might have gone through a physio program and special pre season training to strengthen his hip. This might have taken 2-3 months. If that failed then Op would be last option.

All the best anyway pal! (y)

McCarthy stuff is interesting. Clearly not being bought as a 1st choice. It is the kind of signing Man Utd always used to make. A player who would be good enough to start in most premier teams below the top few, but is prepared to come to a top team, knowing that he is likely to be a squad player.

I'm thinking the likes of Park, Fletcher, Hernandez.

It's good not to just have competition for starting places, but also to have competition to be the go to player from the bench. It invariably results in that player performing well and becoming indispensable.

They don't pay £20 mil for those type of players though, that's for sure. In all honesty I don't believe we have any serious interest in McCarthay because of the players we already have at the club.

Apologies if this has been already mentioned, but could we be aiming for a midfield of Sandro, Paulinho and Mcarthy, with a front three of Bale, Benteke and Dembele

McCarthy coming in would almost be offset financially if we could sell Parker, Hudd and Livermore. You can see the sense that makes in Levy's head. He's an improvement on any of the aforementioned and perhaps the thinking by the club is perhaps to give Carroll if possible a season on loan at a prem club or top championship club.

I really hope not, we'll need his creativity. He has the potential to be just as good as McCarthy IMO. We could do with them both if our unwanted midfielders are on their way. Start him in every EL game alongside a tank whether it be Sandro, Dembele or Paul and he'll flourish.

Hes not just cover!! If you look at the scenario it seems were going to a 4-3-3. We have atm Paulinho,Sandro,Dembele,Holtby,Huddlestone,
Parker,Livermore and Siggy who can play central. Huddlestone and parker look like they will leave along with probably Livermore! We need 5 or 6 Central midfielders and if we Dembele had surgery that weaves us with 4 which isnt enough!!
