Still not heard we are done but it's been quiet all afternoon so that doesn't necessarily mean we aren't done.

Porro and Danjuma is a 5/10 window. Danjuma gives us a pace option up top and it's a complete unknown how he will settle in.

Porro is a fantastic addition and the reason I've rated the window a 5/10. I genuinely think he's going to be brilliant for us and I'm really looking forward to seeing him and Kulu down the right.

Anyway, will update if I hear anything but I'll be gobsmacked if anything else happens now.

I wonder if Conte had shown commitment to the club, whether he'd have been backed more.. If he's off in 6 months, there is very little point splashing out on players for him.
Goes back to the whole recruitment setup we have. In an ideal world, no manager, not even Conte, should dictate which players we go for, it should all be down to the DOF. DOF buys the players for the system we play, head coach coaches them. Why can’t we do that.

5/10 for me. Not a great window.

Bastoni wanted to stay - we could have offered 100m to Inter and he would have still stayed.

Gvardiol - was never leavign last summer and no one exactly prized him away.

Signings of that calibre was never happening this window.
Money talks, say what you want but look at other clubs all over they pay top dollar and get the player.

Signing of that calibre never happen for us. We got a 40 million RWB it’s all well and good but it’s generally the going rate for a good player nowadays. Bournemouth and clubs of that ilk are paying 30/35 million for players.

Then it goes back to our recruitment strategy and identifying players to improve us because i'm damn sure there's more than just Bastoni and Gvardiol who would improve our first team.

It's a fair point. However how did we get to this point so quickly with him? Surely the board knew how demanding he was and what he would want. I'm sure they did, but they have still come up short. Seems like they are just continuously buying time.
Poch was committed and they failed him too....
I think we got to this point so quickly because if some unforseen circumstances. If the suggestions of him moving back to Italy because of his family and the recent death of 3 friends are correct, there not much the club could have done about that.

This happens everywhere, look at Liverpool - waiting for their key targets most likely to strengthen midfield.

Money talks? Mna United didnt get De Jong - player didnt want to leave.

Money doesnt always talk as it takes the player wanting or deciding to leave.

I am desperate for a couple of defenders like everyone else but im willing to give this summer to strengthen the three key areas at the back

Just how demanding is Conte?

He wants a starting caliber RWB - is that too demanding?

He wants a starting caliber CB (or 2) - is that too demanding?

He wants a backup RW - is that too demanding?

Just what exactly is Conte demanding that is unreasonable? These are all positions that need upgrading, no matter the manager...

That I agree with - but hey if you want to back Conte and he wants Bastoni but he is only available this summer and he wil come if we wait then what do you do...

Our strategy certainly needs work

Well you continue waiting, we don’t address our issues time again. The neglect towards the squad over the last five years is pathetic in all honesty.
I think as usual should/could do more is how we come out the window.

It's not a barometer. Just using an example to demonstrate thay no matter how much money there is, there isnt always the availability of players. People keep saying to strengthen at CB. Who is available right now?

Tell me a club who has had a perfect window, and left their squad without deficiencies?
But again, you say who is available right now? I'll counter that by saying Conte has gone through multiple windows now asking for a CB. So it's not who is available now, it's who could we have got in having 8 months of knowing this?

So we couldn't get one in the Summer, fine. So use the next 6 months to make sure you do get one at the next opportunity? Why have we waited till deadline day again to find out we can't get one again?

The fact is, this is a recurring theme and has been for years.

As y'all saying it seems porro is done now but I'm wondering how it's possible it have taken this long time... Maybe we just got the info early in and that's why it have taken such a long tike but when you look at other teams it seems like they do business so much faster than us.

Just hope we somehow will get a new CB this window

True, but it's not like he arrived and that's all he wanted. He also wanted:

- a RWF which we bought for 35-40m

- a backup LF/CF which we bought for 60m

- two CMs which we bought for 30m and 20m

...and a top quality RWB which we've now got in Porro for 45m.

Not to mention Perisic at his specific request.

Like, I get that we need to upgrade at CB as well, but none of our top choices were available last summer, despite massive effort made to sign Bastoni, Bremer Gvardiol, etc.

I agree we could've done more and in 2 windows we could've done better than just Lenglet at CB, but effecively saying 'Conte isn't unreasonable to instantly demand an entire squad of 40m+ quality players' is a bit much.

We're at the mercy of our previous bad signings and our mess of a squad - it's going to take time and we were never going to get every position filled in 2 or 3 windows.

We go into the summer requiring 2CBs, a GK and AM. If Kane doesnt sign on or/and Son doesnt get his form back, we need another attacker.

That could be up to 200m. Which isn't exactly something we do.

We may even need another CM to upgrade Hojbjerg and Id like a third CB to perhaps be be an understudy/step in for Romero.

Well aren't you demanding!

( truthfully - we probably need 3 CBs because we have waited so long to re-fresh. Lenglet is out, and needs replacing, Sanchez should be sold and replaced, and we need to upgrade Davies.)

Assuming they're all hits, no duff ones, very rare for us.
