United seem very weak if they don't make massive investment next year, the thing is, even though they have massive history, plenty of trophies, can Moyes repeat what SAF achieved? I really dont think so.

They were there for the taking last season; if we'd have had soldado then we'd have strolled CL and challenged them. Prem was weak last season and manure's victory flattered to deceive - they were very vulnerable.

Top four for the next season will be the biggest battle they have had in forever,

Agreed, especially as it's been mentioned that a lot of the Madrid fans aren't exactly impressed with the amounts being mentioned for Bale

I may get shot down for this but IMO bale seriously papered over 2 major weaknesses last year. One has been sorted by signing Soldado but the other ie a serious lack of creativity has not. If bale goes and we don't but a modric type I don't see us getting top 4,even with the signings we have made.

This has been my main worry since since start of last season. Even if Bale stays we still miss that last player type (Silva/Mata etc.) which really could make us compete for the title.

Been going through the last couple of hours of posts and a couple of randoms, and i'm sorry if they're not but one had 1 post the other 200 odd, have come in tonight and said 'i'm hearing Bale's going...' and all the ITK we've had in the last day has been inclined towards Bale staying. Then there's the idea that someone said about people (agents, clubs, journos, whoever) advancing a n untrue side of the story. If I was guessing which side of the argument was being falsely stated i'd say it was the one that is weirdly recruiting random posters to post about Bale going...

I noticed this, but I'm not entirely sure what to make of it yet.

To answer your question, yes i have got things wrong in the past, i have been informed of stuff that hasn't happened or has completely changed, nothing however has been been made up which is a different conversation!

That is the risky business of passing on stuff you can be a hero 1 day and look like a complete tit the next. So when you receive ITK on here etc you should always play the ball and not the man . Its a bit too risky for me now that's why after this window i will be hanging up my boots. I know i have said that before this time its for real.....

Top man. Might as well go down in a blaze of glory then mate and have one final session where you unload an avalanche of behind the scenes itk! I remember a manager leaving the League One club I was covering and taking a bigger job in the football world, and to his credit he came into the newsroom and sat down and told us everything, off the record about the club from top to bottom - who was staying, who was leaving, who he'd take with him, what wages everyone was on, which other managers in the league were ****s, who was shagging who, the full works. Brilliant day that was

The whole Bale thing fucks me off so much. I love the kid so much but what I want is for him to stay at Spurs his whole carrier and become our Giggs, Gerard etc.... This is not going to happen. It seems he moves ether now or next summer, so it might as well be now. We are not going to get more money for him next summer, we are not in the CL and we are not going to challenge for the tittle (not unless we go spend another 40/50 mil, which is not going to happen) now that we have brought in 3 new players we might as well continue and bring in Lamela or who ever will replace him so everyone can adjust together and mould together. We need to build for the future and the only way we can do that is with players who want to be a part of this club long term... If Bale does then I will be over the moon excited more so then any other transfer we will ever make but absolutely nothing in the last few years has made me think he sees Spurs as his long term future. If we are not his future, Bale should not be ours (this hurts so much to think but it's how it is)

I think the plan to keep Bale another season (even against his will) makes sense , and I'll list a few reasons/scenario's why
1. Bale helps fire us into the CL, thats 30 odd million in the coffers, then if he still wants to go, we are in a great position to bring in players (because we have CL)
2. Even if Bale doesnt quite match up to last season, its still quite likely he fires us into the CL, therefore if we receive a reduced bid for Bale, we are covered because we got 30M in CL money
3. Bale fires us into the CL, then wants to reap the rewards and stick around to play in the CL, by that time the stadium should be well on the way, Bale realizes we are becoming a massive Club and signs a new contract

You'll probably gathered I think Bale will fire us into the CL LOL, and yes, my reasoning is hugely optimistic and would involve Levy and Co taking a massive gamble but to quote a great philosopher (Del Boy Trotter), "He Who Dares Wins".

Whatever happens with GB, if we can get a Lamela in then coupled with having a pearler of a striker in we can cope. That's the danger though isn't it. We need Fun Time Frankie to pull another rabbit out of the hat or losing GB would be brutal.

That's probably true but what I am getting at is that if both these guys are well respected ITK (and they are) how could they be getting vastly different info? Basically one says he's staying and one says he's going. Certainly strange....only they know as its their sources.

Nevertheless, appreciate the info and hopefully he stays. We've had a great window to date.

Interesting, as I believe LLM passed on earlier today that the club was cracking down on leaks and one employee got into some hot water for leaking info (maybe even fired).

Well that's that then: he's staying. There's no way a woman with a newly born is going to be persuaded to make such a life changing move if she doesn't want to. Massive upheaval away from her security network of family and friends.

LLM stuff is excellent and cant fault it, however the Bale info at the moment is only for a select few and unless he is hearing directly from a select few people he may be a bit behind time wise. The club line within is he's staying but go higher and you get the real (no pun intended)story.

JJ, you posted a while back that 3 quality signings in and one special out, was Soldado one of the 3 in? or can we expect 3 more?
