Pereira is an experienced international left sided player that our coach knows well. He would add extra depth, competition and versatility to our squad. One might say an extra 'dimension'. ;)

Where's the downside in that?

No downside in theory, but it would divert funds from more important targets, like a striker

So Pereira can now be talked about itt for real. Thanks Goat. Good thing he didn't bleat anything about Villa.

Would be very shocked if we put our limited funds to use for Periera when we have other needs.

I agree. He maybe a player avb likes and would want. But getting him is a completely different scenario.

I know nothing of the player really.

It is not our problem zone. He is mainly a left back: So you have BAE, Rose, Fryers, Naughton and in worst case Jan Vertonghen. It is stupid to splash the cash on another LB. We may could do with a winger replacement for Bale and Lennon when Townsend is going on loan but in this case I want a more offensiv thinking player than Pereira.

If he comes over to us, I would expect the high-line defense to be in full effect. Maybe AVB doesn't have confidence in BAE to play in that setup.

I got the impression the talk of Perreira was a swap deal for Benny. There were rumours recently that BAE was off somewhere, so maybe this has legs, like for like replacement, but incoming player is a player AVB is already familiar with so should be happy with.
Just guesswork though. Benny almost 29, Perreira not long turned 27. Depends on any cash adjustments and in which direction, can't see us paying out to swap Benny, would have to be Perreira & cash.

You know how I'm usually completely upbeat and delirious about everyone we're linked with?

This time I really am, Pereira is class.

But he would be replacing BAE imo. Rose is unavailable, Fryers isn't ready, Naughton is a right back and Jan is a cb. I personally think its inspired.

More of a sideway step, than a leap forward, whichever way you look at it. Slightly befuddling, if I'm being honest, but I'm a long way off questioning AVB over who he wants to bring in and also move on.

Pererria been playing as a LM in 352 for inter, aswell as LDM (due to injuries I guess) attacking wingback with 3 goals 1 asisst and a 79% pass rate in all competitions, decent if he was younger but BAE seems better imo.

(stats from whoscored btw)

Why? Whhhhhhhhhhhy? Now you've saved KOO from wading through pages of drivel :sneaky:

If you would like, I could make KOO a greatest hits CD (Jim Dale has signed on to do the voice work) of my posts so he could enjoy my work at his leisure. Hot tip: listen to it as you are going to sleep in order to start the next day feeling like the bugs are trying to eat their way into your brain so they can take over your life and finally play pub trivia.
