So we have signed 3 new players today, have a pretty full squad and rumour has it we still have 40m to spend.
AVB said he prefer a smaller squad, so it would make sense if we aim for "two teams" with great players so we are well stocked for everything. If we have 40 mil to spend it makes the most sense to go for a clear first choice LWF and a LB.

40m gets you both Contreau and a premier LWF who ideally could play as a striker to, but the list off senior players we no longer "need" is quite big if this is the case: Ade, Lennon, Benny and Gylfi could all find themself surplus to requirments as they simply wont see much playing time.

Very difficult to choose between Capoue and Dembele, and harsh on Chadli, Lennon and Townsend, while still leaving Dawson, Chiriches, Holtby, Sigurdsson, Ekotto, Adebayor and Defoe kicking their heels.

Fact.
We have, positionally, a fully stocked squad now, all relevant positions quality starters, and quality like for like cover.
Once Eriksen is confirmed (on the OS), then technically I wouldn't care if the window closed, as we'll go onwards with near perfect balance.
The only issues remaining, is if we decide to upgrade at LB (on Ekotto) and CF (on Adebayor). If we do, fan-bloody-tastic. If we don't, we still have two high calibre players there, just questionable attitudes.
This is the best transfer window I've seen. And seeing those rough calculations above, that we've done it for a net spend of just £1m, even better from the club's perspective. (Arguably, if Bale breaks the works transfer record, we could even make a profit this window)...

What is wrong with Benny's Attitude? Do you know something I dont or do you just fall for the baseless reuteuric? Benny is Benny and has always been Benny, even two seasons ago when he was considered (and rightly so) probably the 3rd best LB in the EPL. He is just unfortunate to have had a bad injury to his knee from which he has obviously not recovered, hence failing two recent medicals.
