The thing with goalkeepers is it isn't a trendy position and most of the best teams have already got good keepers in situ.

Lloris' reputation hasn't necessarily grown, apart from in our eyes, since we bought him; the money teams could have gone for him then but he came here.

Johnny Billionaire doesn't look at his team and say 'we need a keeper' unless they've had a Gomes of a season. They want forwards and Brazilians like the rest of us. Throw in the possibility of Chelsea having a top guy maybe for sale and are clubs gonna try and prize Lloris from Levy's cold dead hands? Maybe not.
btw, Swansea just signed Fabianski...

Let me help you here...

Zabeleta
Ivanovic
Coleman
Sagna

All better defensively, and actually contribute goals and assists unlike Walker.
Yes, we know they are better but here's why

Zabaleta is 29
Ivanovic is 30
Sagna is 31

So, the only player you could say is better and is of a similar age (although 2 years older) is Coleman...

I remember skipping class to watch fucking Sky Sports on that deadline day and it was all worth it to see Lloris come in. He's one of the best players we'll ever have and we need to do everything we can to hold onto him, especially since clubs don't spend too much on keepers. There really just isn't a value that you could put on him.

and it happened to be on the day when the teacher would have told you that swearing for no good reason doesn't make you sound cool. What are the chances?

People seem determined to run down oue young players.

Walker is one of the first names on the team sheet for me, and he was brilliant this season until his injury. Quality player who will only get better.

When the alternative is Naughton, I'd bloody hope so...

A few journo's connected to Saints are saying the same thing regarding a fire sale and have added the rationale behind it - in that they view it an as end of an era and will hand any new manager substantial funds to shape the squad to his liking.

Hugo more or less best in world certainly in our eyes anyways.

Saints fire sale surely if levy hasn't burnt any bridges with them you would expect pochettino to have an interest and I know everyone is gonna go all lallana on me but shawly we will be interested in a fair few of them.

I think he's the best in the Premier League but Courtois, Neuer and Lloris are all much of a muchness

The reason Southampton are looking at that fire sale is that most of their best players are homegrown and everybody is looking at those players to keep their quota up, including us. If most of us agree that our worse players, the ones that need up grading on, are English. i.e. Rose, Lennon, Dawson, Naughton (just putting names out there) then it makes sense we are looking at good English players to replace them with, hence the premium everyone has to pay for homegrown.
Southampton just happen to have some of the best at the moment.

The thing is, I think we're most likely to get Lovren out of all their players!

I doubt we will get any. Shaw and Lalana are way overpriced. I think we may go back to the well once the ques/rush has died down.
