I really hope we don't sell Bale this late on - if we do would have to think we'd go chasing after Hulk...and maybe a cheeky bid for Suarez?
I am sorry but Suarez is the lst person I want to see in a Tottenham shirt. A very good footballer but a despicable human being. A racist and immature man.

Lamela would be our #1 priority if Bale went, given that Baldini brought him to Roma. He's an absolute superstar in the making. 21 years old and a top player in Serie A already. He has all the attributes to reach the same heights Bale has with us..
Agreed. And so I guess RM will come tapping him up in a couple of years then if we buy him.
Got to keep our best players or forget ever winning the title.

This probably wont be a popular view, but IF Bale does leave then I would prefer us to try and get two or three players in exchange instead of the cash. I mean, what are we going to do with it all? We will still have the same old problem now that we haven't got CL football and will find it impossible to attract anyone around Bale's level (you may ask how we could get these Real Madrid players then, but these would be guys you imagine like Coentrao etc who want to leave, aren't getting a lot of football and Real can push them out of the club somewhat). Plus every other club would rip us off big time knowing the moMney we had to spend.

I don't really see any benefit to having all that money, unless it went towards the stadium or allowed us to speculate a bit more on some of the 'wonderkids' that we may have a chance of signing.

Players must agree to a move. Not many of RM's players would come to Spurs, sadly

When I say a medical it is sadly not as simple as a scan they run, jump, etc there movement and body language is watched. Aswell as scans, ecgs, etc.

ive seen a case in my days as a player where another player stone faced the medical, did not let on he was injured and then was out for a very long time. He successfully sued the club though as he was not techinically fit to play.

things are more tightly controlled now.

I honestly dont have the foggiest who the medicals for though. We shall see later.

After we sold Carrick, we invested and progressed after a wee bit of trouble; after Berbatov left we invested and progressed, and when Modric left many thought we would suffer, we invested and progressed. If Bale goes we will invest and progress. No one is bigger than the club, it would be different if Bale was born and breed Spurs, but he wasn’t, we helped him become the player he is now, but he isn’t emotionally attached to Spurs like you and I. If he leaves its on our terms.
Only Carrick has improved slightly after leaving us, and it isn’t always better at the big clubs. We wouldn’t be the club we are today without selling these players, and selling Bale if it happens, well… it will sad for a while, but the club moves on.

Ali Z on Bale: OK this is not a a done deal. Far from it.

Madrid have made no offer.I repeat no offer.

Just cheap tactics to rattle us and Bale and they will not offer a world record fee. Time to hold our nerve

Good. In all honesty the £33 million we are said to have got for modric wasn't enough for a player of his age and quality.

I wouldn't take £80m for bale anyway, I think he is much more valuable to us this season. I believe we will probably sell him next season and get £100m for him.

Good to have it confirmed, but just what we all knew. Holding our nerve is fine, as long as we don't end up with a crisis on our hands with Bale deciding in three weeks that he really wants to go. I can't see GB 'doing a Berbatov', but we need to give RM a real deadline, absolutely defined, that they make an offer within the next week that meets our valuation, or do one. Bale needs to be told this is the case as well, we will listen to offers for you for the next week, but after that it is simply too late. If it happens and you want to go, we will do what we can with the money we get and move on. If nothing happens in the next week, we simply cannot let it disrupt the start to our season, so you're staying no matter what the bid.

Whilst you make it sound romantic the truth is we struggled and wasted a lot of money trying to replace and inprove. Once we sold Carrick we went from consecutive 5th place finishes to taking 3 seasons to get back there. We also spent £8m on Zokora and £13m on Palacios in an attempt to replace him.

We still haven't replaced Berba and again have lost big money on attempted replacements.

Modric wasn't so bad as Dembele has been great but I'm pretty sure we would have done better last season with Luka.

We have obviously kept improving but Bale would be the hardest of the lot to replace.

Levy may be able to get Madrid to back off for a year by offereing a discount on a deal next summer, then he could spend the year reminding Bale that Madrid didn't really want him that badly which would lead to Bale signing a new contract. Sorted.

To sell Bale now would be madness, even for the sums being quoted.

The first reason for this is that the clubs of any potential replacement players will ask for vast somes having seen us just receive a potential record breaking amount.

Levy easily knows this.

Second reason is that Bale could be worth more to us than Madrid are offering if he stays.

Accounting for potential CL football, attracting better players (as proved with Paulinho supposedly), leading to a better chance of sustained CL football, not to mention wages spent on replacements and sponserships/the global brand of Tottenham Hotspur.

Third reason (and most important reason) is that you don't just replace Bale. Levy and to a greater extent AVB will no that to sell bale will change the dynamics of the team. The type of change that will need a whole summer to way up new systems, tinker with both current and new players, defining a new channel of play.

That said, to sell Bale now would be of great detriment to the teams early season progress. More so than keeping a potentially unhappy bale. I believe that once he gets a ball at his feet and the crowed behind him he will give us 100% this season.

Sell at the start of next season early, and then implement the change, transition and evelution as required.

That is of course if we fail to get a CL spot and not win anything.

Of course he may still go, but if we are pushing for a title and say win the EUFA cup, which I think we can if we get the players to do this (Soldado etc), then there is no reason at all not to think that Bale would stay.

Someone needs to slap him round the head and tell him to sack his f-ing agent as it seems he is obviously a **** and been working for RM behind our backs and niggling Bales ear and also tell Bale that going to RM would be the worse thing, RM want him as cash cow and for political reasons that have fuck all to do with football.

I hope that Levy has got the Balls to stand firm with Bale and what is best for Bales interests and going to club as ****ish as RM is not one of them. Maybe in years gone by, but in my eyes they have lost a lot respect from by the way they are acting. They are just a bunch of shit eating ****s.

I thought he said they made an offer which was ridiculously low the other day
