Unless the bid is 100m+ or including FC and Di Maria I don't think it will happen. You can unsettle Gareth all you want Real Madrid - he'll still be amazing next year. If we do receive the bid then I'm not worried. Our squad is shaping up nicely and with the 3 apparent incoming stars we will be just fine next season!

A special player whom we knew all along was going to leave?

It's like that puzzle where you have to extrapolate beyond the square and lines to get the answer.

Who did we know was going to leave since say, January or end of season?

The suspects would have to be one of
1) Scott Parker
2) Ade
3) Disco Benny

Which of the 3 are special? Think they all are in their own way so...

I'd have to add that some info I heard points also to 2 and 3 leaving

Why don't we all assume that since JJ vouched for LLM info that it isn't bale whom we are talking about and instead cream over who the other 2 good players could be, assuming bale staying.

I'd say left back and either back up centre back / striker

I know it sounds dramatic but if we sell Bale I think this will probably be the last time I have a season ticket at Spurs. I'll still be a supporter, still be interested, probably still go to the lane from time to time but it will confirm what i've known in the back of my mind for years now but haven't admitted : we will never establish ourselves in the CL, never compete for trophies unless we take the petrodollars or Russian oligarch money.

Of course Bale is one player. Spurs will continue, we'll still have a good team, maybe even a very good team but until we stop this cycle of one step forward, two steps back we will never have a great team. Clubs will forever circle us like vultures and players will continue to use as like stepping stones.

Even if we put some of the money towards the stadium, we will still have to find several hundred million (and will find it harder to get a favourable naming rights deal without Bale or CL football). And if and when the stadium is up and running and we have paid the debts off, the extra revenue will not be spunked willy nilly by Levy, its not his style.

I know that sounds depressing but hey, I'm a Spurs fan, what did you expect? ;)

Don't like JJ's news, majority of the time he's been pretty good with his info, if Gareth does leave I hope we rinse those Madrid fuckers for him, won't accept anything less that £100m for him.

You can't say "special" anymore..... Could be misconstrued and will end up on a Liverpool list of banned words.....;)

Also, Greg stobart article said clearly that if the offer is full cash upfront AND a world record, levy would consider and like mido said, do we really not expect levy to consider a world record cash bid?

And that he said bale wants to play for rm but more than happy to stay

Plus that itk that says that bale would be crazy to leave once new signings are in place

Something is most definitely cooking on our transfer front

That's sad.

mate. players come and go. Bale is just the latest and he certainly wont be the last.

It'll Hugo or Verts next year. But someone else will step up , berbatov>modric>VdV>Bale. Its just a procession. Dont take it to heart.

Because its on a lot of smartphones

A lot more people on it

People are going to gossip anywhere be it over twitter or over text or over a cup of tea, word will get around

I get at least a dozen texts a day of gossip from friends who have heard this or that and asking what i think

Only this morning i have had texts linking us with Rooney, with Suarez, with Dzeko, gossip is the nature of the beast

Silly of JJ to put Bale going as slightly cryptic, I did a similar thing last week with a bit of info i heard last week and felt the full force of A&C's ban stick, well, he calls it a stick, but I've never seen a stick that's made of rubber...

Why are people giving the ITK's grief? Everyone at the club was clearly under then impression that he would stay for one more year, so that's the info they were giving. Something obviously changed in Hong Kong, most likely that RM face him an ultimatum.

Bale's not going anywhere, his agent is just pushing for a higher salary. As has been said here before Bale's agent takes a cut of his salary so obviously he has a vested interest in the contract negotiations. It seems very suspicious that all the "Madrid make Bid" rumours started after quite a few of the ITKs stated that contract negotiations between THFC and Bale were underway for a new £150,000p/w contract. With all the sponsorship deals that Bale and the club have in place for next season it doesn't make any sense for him to leave. Anyway, that's my 2 pennies worth

10 steps forward and 100 backward.

We sign lineker and sell waddle...

Pretty sure that season we finished 3rd, won the FA cup and recorded one of our most memorable victories ever against the scum. I'd take that again in a heartbeat,

History shows that it definitely is possible for the club to progress even after selling some very special talents.

Anyway....enough of that...as you were....back to wrist-slitting....

Quite clearly JJ intended his post to allude to Bale, anyone saying otherwise is deluded.

It is not clear though, and it won't be until JJ or a mod state what he meant by it. He could have been referring to Bale but he could also have been referring to Adebayor, BAE, Huddlestone or anyone else, we just don't know. Especially as we don't know what players JJ would class as special. Saying that people are deluded if they don't agree with your interpretation of a message that even when being kind can be called fuzzy at best is stupid.

I'm putting this down as the weirdest transfer period so far. You cant blame ITK's. I dont think Levy or Bale is 100% sure whats going on either.

JJ's retiring?

What now? do you go and run a country pub or start on the after dinner circuit? Maybe you get to help the youth and move into the U18s thread in Spurs Chat to bring on the next generation of ITK

Do you still get to keep your badge or does it get handed in on the last day like all the cop dramas?

A disagree I understand as it was my opinion not FACT but a WTF and a dislike? Tough crowd.

I am allowed to like other players more than Bale you know.

And he has become one of the best players in the world while playing for us and life will go on.

Don't see the problem myself.

We are Tottenham and no player is bigger than us.

Its just incredulous that you dont share the hive opinion

Please think before you post in the future.
