As long as we get another Striker in..

We have a striker that cost 26 mill currently sitting on the bench. We don't need another striker. We don't need another winger. In fact we don't need another player - except maybe a left back. What we do need, is to make the most of the 7 - seven - players we bought in the summer.

* 8 million for Defoe.
* Holbty to Fulham (8 million fee agreed for summer.
* Potentially 14 million euros sale of Capoue to Napoli.

I'm really starting to understand why Levy pays himself 2 million plus each year.

Yep, that's my issue too. From what Ryan has said, we have had a deal in place for Berba but just didn't pull the trigger on it and have lost out now. When Ade goes off the boil (and, let's face it, he probably will), we're left with a Soldado who is struggling to adapt and Harry Kane (bless him...). Chadli, Lamela and Siggy could probably all play second striker if need be, but not if we end up playing one up front.

I feel like maybe we should have pursued Hernandez as an alternative if he's agitating for more game time (don't know if Man U would deal with us, but worth a try).
I know he isn't in the same class but this season Kane has looked like he could play with somebody off of him. Never been impressed previously but he has looked quite good this year and at a push he could play up there I think.

The trouble with getting another striker is that we can't keep them happy. I want Soldado to play and I want Tim to find a way of getting the best out of him.

Hahaha. Some hilarious stuff yet again today.

I don't see how you can say we are weakening our squad, numbers might go out but they are deadwood. The likelihood of Defoe playing is very low. For the number nine position we have Adebayor, if he gets crocked we have Soldado. Two senior players, then Kane as the young squad option. For the No.10 role Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela or Sigurdsson could fill in.

Headless chicken Holtby has probably less chance of playing, with all the aforementioned for the No.10 role. He isn't cut out to play as part of a cm2 and has 5 players in front of him for those two spots. Surplus to requirements. A loan may be the best thing for him, 90 mins every week may calm him down and get him playing with some tactical and decision making discipline which we could potentially reap the benefit of later down the line.

What some of you need to accept is that this season was pretty much over and lost a lot of meaning when AVB got sacked/walked out. It became transitional, its very uncertain whether Sherwood is here beyond the end of the season. We are already bemoaning the fact that a new manager has come in and doesn't like recent signings... So hey, lets sign more players this window and run the risk of being in exactly the same position in the summer if we have a new boss in charge!...

We do need a left winger. When Townsend is out, I cannot fathom people watching us play and not coming to this realization. Our left winger situation is a sinkhole that is a detriment to the whole team.

Does depend how we deploy Chadli and Lamela in the forseeable but to have no like for like replacement for Adebayor or just another bona-fide striker is just reckless.

I think we should change our club motto from "to dare is to do" to "let's all just make do".

I dont understand Tim really. I dont think Nabil has the ability to become a top player in PL, I would compare him a bit with Livermore. A decent player but a not ready to play in a top 4side. Capoue is a class player that have been good every game he have played. i rather see that we loan out Nabil and give Capoue a real chance.

I agree with most of this apart from the season being over. when we have a large chunk of our first team coming back and we are 3 points off of fourth spot. But this conversation is for another thread.

Absolutely spot on, finally a sensible realistic comment rather than the usual rabid transfer hungry nonsense

Please PM me to clarify what it is about not posting images in here that eludes you. I'm happy to clear up any misunderstandings if i've maybe worded it in a way that's not quite crystal or accidentally wrote it in swahili

If we lose Adebayor - Soldado won't bring the same type of attributes and thus it could well affect how efficient we've been recently.

Its a risk whatever way you cut it, even with Sherwood's more ambitious style of play.
