Hahaha. Some hilarious stuff yet again today.

I don't see how you can say we are weakening our squad, numbers might go out but they are deadwood. The likelihood of Defoe playing is very low. For the number nine position we have Adebayor, if he gets crocked we have Soldado. Two senior players, then Kane as the young squad option. For the No.10 role Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela or Sigurdsson could fill in.

Headless chicken Holtby has probably less chance of playing, with all the aforementioned for the No.10 role. He isn't cut out to play as part of a cm2 and has 5 players in front of him for those two spots. Surplus to requirements. A loan may be the best thing for him, 90 mins every week may calm him down and get him playing with some tactical and decision making discipline which we could potentially reap the benefit of later down the line.

What some of you need to accept is that this season was pretty much over and lost a lot of meaning when AVB got sacked/walked out. It became transitional, its very uncertain whether Sherwood is here beyond the end of the season. We are already bemoaning the fact that a new manager has come in and doesn't like recent signings... So hey, lets sign more players this window and run the risk of being in exactly the same position in the summer if we have a new boss in charge!...

Spot on. This season should have been written off as soon as we lost Bale and signed 7 players. No way were they going to gel inside 1 season. They'll be so much better off next season, then, and only then can we judge where we are. Putting this top 4 pressure on them is lunacy.

My issue is this: We have a very good squad with lots of depth but a couple of glaring weaknesses. Rather against the odds considering our rather chaotic season, we're in contention for top 4. As you say, the managerial situation is still up in the air. Why not sort out a couple of sensible, realistic loans - a LB, a striker - until the end of the season to keep us competitive without splurging?

Lot of agent stirring turning into rumours of signings it seems.

Go back mere days and it was all 'we will be quiet'. Seems about right.

Still, fun isn't it!?

If we lose Adebayor - Soldado won't bring the same type of attributes and thus it could well affect how efficient we've been recently.

Its a risk whatever way you cut it, even with Sherwood's more ambitious style of play.

If Soldado up front on his own under Sherwood is anything like how it was under AVB then it would certainly make things more difficult on the pitch.

The only thing in my eyes that makes this whole situation bearable is the fact that Sherwood said he sees Lamela as someone who could play as an almost secondary striker (or something to that effect) so it would be interesting to see how he would be in such a role.

We do need a left winger. When Townsend is out, I cannot fathom people watching us play and not coming to this realization. Our left winger situation is a sinkhole that is a detriment to the whole team.

Eriksen can play there, and I've not giving up on Lamela and Chadli.

Well, that was the last time I even went on the hunt for any ITK. I don't actually give a shit about neg reps but it's just fucking rude.

This is exactly correct, although of course I'd also throw the left winger in particularly. We are deep, especially in some areas, but very thin in others. So thin that I believe our current options there are hurting us.

Fundamentally, this.

You can't rely so much on one particular player and not have a sufficient replacement who can at least try and replicate what Adebayor brings.
