we've replaces 88 and 87 vdv with mediocre players by fifa standards, we have been weakened. it wouldnt surprise me if we were a 4.5 star team again.

Actually, squad updates had both at about 85-86.
FIFA screw up most player ratings, we are official partners with them so our squad will probably be overrated.

However, I fail to see how Lloris is 'average' in FIFA. He becomes the best goalkeeper in the game.

Our squad as a whole has been strengthened but our weakness still remain. Lack of creativity. No back up striker - Dempsey is not a striker.

We are a money making exercise for Levy and his ENIC cronies.

Transfer gain AGAIN

No sporting ambition
laughable post. everyone thinks we are playing fm. lets go punk 25m on an unproven in the premiership midfielder. we are not city we can't just agree to everyone's demands, they know we have modric's money and that avb put all his eggs in one basket and are abusing the situation.

Profit. Goodnight.

:)
Agreed. Lyon's Chairman gave a good indication into Levys dealings. A rumour doing the rounds was the shared ownership over the player. TBH, I do not buy for 1 min, that the club wouldn't have known about that until now. I'm sure the club will do there damage limitation PR. However, I think we've missed the boat now from being potential title challengers to now trying challenging to get 4th. Opportunity missed. Also, a lot of players have been sold over the last year or so, and only a portion of the money has been reinvested.

We've got some brilliant players in and improved in key areas, but it's all a bit 'four steps forward, five steps back' when we have no genuine creativity. I'm genuinely expecting a poor season now. We have a team without any ideas men.
The difference now is that we have a manager that can hopefully bring creativity to the table, hopefully he can drum it into the less creative players. We still have players like Bale and Lennon that can bring a lot to the table other than VDV and Modric.

We're going into the unknown with pessimism and I hope we're all eating humble pie in the not too distant future

Message to A&C:

Please can you open in ITK post-mortem thread tomorrow so we can pick apart who done good and whose name began with an A.

Also, I would like to hear JJ (and others') inside view on what was attempted and why things fell through.
I know JJ promised to tell all on a couple of occasions (eg who the first choice manager actually was and what happened when Joe Lewis gave over the cash and the signings did not materialise - to reiterate two of his teases.

Iain Dowie thinks we've done well. And that, I think you'll find, is as gospel as you could wish for.

I think people to re-evaluate our position as a club. I think chelsea and City have ruined some people perceptions of football as a whole and being a rich boy playground. It isn't. Over past windows, we have had to sell to spend. And we may sometimes have a bit on the side to spend. We do not sign world class players on a regular basis. VDV, Ginola, Klinsmann, are far betweens. Modric was a risk we brought in, that paid off. We are 36,000 seater stadium. We are trying to compete on wages, to keep these players, i think it is clear we have had to raise that to keep bale and Ade. We do not have wheel barrows of cash except if the right deal can be found. Moutinhio was that right deal, but circumstances that we do not know about, not itks, or jounalists has seemingly stopped this. Only levy knows.

It was a mistake i think to get rid of VDV (but you can see why, ageing, injury prone for 10 mil is great buisness), without def securing Mouts.

At the end of the day THFC is a business. That levy has to keep afloat. With players, agents, and chairmans wanting the best deals, the right deal has to be struck without being mugged off. Our chairman as a great ability to mug oither people off. But every penny counts.

The transfers we have got in i am very pleased with, with mouts it would have been an outstanding (probably been our best ever). Dempsey especially, if versitile enough to play as that top striker if needed as well.

But we have MADE money on transfers....

Brilliant insightful post Ryan (sarcastic). Normally I'd ignore these, as most of the other ones from those with less insight. But are you really still so ITK as to know what really went on with this window? If so please spill the beans.

I appreciate that in the past you were party to some 'closer to the ground info', but now? Is this opinion now or ITK?
its a joke mate

there will be upgrades for dembele, ziggy, and dempsey. thats enough attacking midfielders considering you will most certainly also play lennon, bale and one of parker/sandro

To me this window was absolutely essential for levy

He chose to sack harry, by far our best manager in modern times, and replace him with avb, a huge gamble after what happened at chelsea.
He sold modric, which is ok, he had no choice. Still it took all summer to agree the move and we obviously didn't identify a replacement (even tough we knew for 12 months what was going to happen)
He sold vdv - proven goalscorer, one of our best players last 2 years, a fan favorite

Looking at our signing isolated it is hard to disagree they are pretty good, considering the whole situation though there is no excuse to what has just happened. We are put years back after this summer. I'm still a spurs fan, i will support spurs till i die, but i'm done with levy. There, i've said it.
