Right the widows over, we will be ok with the players we have.

It has been a bloody amazing window, one of the best in recent time infact. Yes we have lost our best players but we have also signed some bloody good players, all of which will fit AVB's system.

I'm off to the pub, bring on tomorrow. I can't wait for our new signings to be paraded.

Dembele is a great player. Quite unique in many ways, strong, quick, glides past players with ease, but his passing is nothing special imo, he certainly won't be threading balls through or dictating the game Modric/Moutinhoo style.

Dempsey is another good player, covers the wings and the striker position, a very good all round attacking player.

But the gaping hole in our squad is in midfield. If you accept that Dembele isn't a particularly remarkable passer then we have virtually no craft or guile in there whatsoever. It's sickening.

Granero would have been perfect but once again we chase a rainbow and end up falling flat on our faces.

If we let Jenas & Bentley go on a free, we would have at least the 10k extra needed to secure Moutinho's wages and money left over.

I might be wrong but can't lower league one clubs still loan players? I still expect Bentley to move on if this is the case.

I rekcon Dempsey must be getting the No. 9 shirt?

Everyone loved VDV but Dempsey is a character too and offers something different to VDV. He is more of a goal throat IMO albeit less of a creative force. He will be a hit for us.

People I am one of the firs to moan but what can we do; us moaning won't change anything. Let's just back the team and we might be pleasantly surprised. All our signings are quality; and all come with proven credentials. Let's be fair Moutinho (if we had signed him) would of been the most susceptible to failing to adapt to the PL.

I'm going to bed now but here's hoping and putting faith in our club. COYS

I have literally no idea why any of you lot are surprised that we missed out on JM. It's how we operate. It's how we've operated for the last few years.

Drip feed the info of a possible 'big signing', ITK's get strung along with 'inside info', then nothing happens.

This window was gonna always end this way.

(very happy with our signings btw)

EDIT: SNN saying that the JM deal still alive.

*sigh*

I am not doing cartwheels nor am I banging my head against a wall, I think we are slightly better overall than when we started the summer but kinda feel it was a missed opportunity to go to the next level at the same time and really make our mark on the premiership

Sure we will be in the mix for 4th but something is missing

6.5/7 - 10 window

the problem everyone has is that we sold VDV and did fuck all with that money. Even another attacking mid of sorts on loan or a willian would have been good and we end up with a bloke called clint ! gutted. Battle for 5th this season im afraid

Don't get hung up on that figure, I completely made it up.

It was just an example of how at this stage I doubt the financial discrepancy is anything significant, and when you get to that stage you should just PAY UP FFS.

Personally, I don't see how any of the players we have signed with the exception of Dembele actually help transform our squad from one that plays 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. That's the one problem I have. We have an army of quality central players but with the exception of Bale who can play wide up top? And even in a 4-4-2 how many wingers do we have?

We have signed quality players but do they actually fit?

But do we know we definitely want to play 4-3-3 or is that just speculating?

Fucking hell.

You guys have spent too much time together this summer.

It would appear that your periods have aligned and all come today.

Chill. We did good business.

Just to clarify, from what's been said it seems the problem with the Moutinho transfer wasn't his wages. That was probably agreed weeks ago. What the club couldn't get sorted is how much Porto should have been paid and how much this 3rd party owner should have been paid. 'Porto sold 37.5% of the player's economic rights to a third party, Mamers BV, for €4.125 million.' That will have been the issue. Not personal terms!

How the fuck did that become a problem? The transfer window is two fucking months long. Jesus assfucking christ.

At the end of last season we had four world class players. Now two have been sold and one has retired. How anyone can think this transfer window has been anything other than a total fuck up is beyond me. Still, it's not all bad. We've cemented our place at the top of the balance sheet league, eh Danny boy?
I agree with that, but do you really think Moutinho is world class? Or Willian?
