So everyone is clear, Dempsey is NOT replacement for Moutinho nor is he VDV's direct replacement. He can play up top or on either of the wings and fit in quite nicely. Very diverse player that will be good backup.

Dempsey is a top player. He is one of those who is not fashionable and not from a fashionable club, but he is a winner, has a great work ethic and engine, scores goals and provides assists, versatile, good in the air, good technique. Not glamorous but an excellent player.

All of that will count for nothing if we don't sign mouts as far as I am concerned.

okay - shoot me down. i know Moutinho was AVB's choice, but i always wanted Dembele as Modric's replacement so i'm content with that. Moutinho i'd still be over the moon with but i'm content with Dembele for Modric. And Dempsey for VDV wouldn't be too bad - he can play up top on his own too.

perhaps something else will be pulled out the bag. my worry is how AVB will take the disappointment
