January better bring Leandro and Moutinho...

It won't. I hate being Mr Pessimistic, but it'll go the same way, with ITK promising Leandro, Remy, Moutinho, Willian et al, and we'll end up with Fraizer Campbell from S'land and Henderson from Liverpool or something. It has become a really familiar theme.

Val, in all seriousness when you weight it all up its not great. Modric and VDV, both of them leaving - that's a monumental gap of quality to fill.

Its not a complete disaster obviously, but Moutinho should of got done given the desire of the player to come and AVB's desperation to get him in, and then when you assess who's been sold.

AVB has my complete backing no matter what happens, because I don't believe he's been truly backed given what's been ripped out of the squad.

And whilst Sigurdsson and Dembele are good players, I dont think they get near to replacing the quality we have lost. We lack brains/vision/creativity still in the centre of the park.

-----------------------------------Lloris---------------------------------
Walker-------------Kaboul------------------Vertonghen-----------BAE
----------------------------------Sandro--------------------------------
------------------------Dembele------------Gylfi------------------------
---Lennon/Dempsey------------Adebayor----------------------Bale---

That's not a bad starting XI in any way but still lacks depth and if Demele gets injured who do we use? Livermore? Jenas? I hope the talk about Huddlestone leaving on a loan isn't true because he will probably be needed this year.

I'm happy that Daws looks to be staying.

You forgot to mention we sold our two most influential players.

Modric had to go - may have been influential last year but wouldn't have wanted to know if he's been around this season.

VdV is disappointing - can understand why we let him go to be with family etc, but we needed a replacement for him first. This is the problem with TWs closing ar different times - we obviously thought all was ok, but again looks like we misjudged the situation.

Still onwards and upwards - still be cheering the boys on tomorrow.

Losing VdV is a big blow.

Dempsey? Maeh... Did well for Fulham but he won't be a starter at Spurs so will he succeed? Hope so of course.

Lloris, now this is one of the signings I wanted most as soon as I knew he was available. Quality keeper, great fee, timing all in our favour. Will need some time to adapt, but quality signing.

As for the rest, all good, but I have to admit not even Lloris makes up for the loss of VdV. Better squad, but I have to say I am concerned that our starting 11 is weaker with the loss of modric and VdV.

Berbatov style window this isn't, but I'm afraid I give it only a 6.5 out of 10. Might upgrade to a 7 or so in the morning.

Good night my friends!

i'm looking forward to hearing from POTL and JJ so we can get the view from the club on how they think the transfer window went.
I feel sorry for AVB a bit though - If he is expected to get 4th with our squad then Levy is having a laugh.

So our first 11 will look something like;

Lloris - Walker - Vert - Kaboul - BAE - Sandro - Dembele - Dempsey - Bale - Lennon - Ade

is that really a leap forward on;

Friedel - Walker - Gallad - Kaboul - BAE - Sandro - Modric - VDV - Bale - Lennon - Ade ???

Nope!!

and our bench is weaker now

Friedel - Gallas - Livermore/Parker - Naughton - Townsend - Defoe - Sig

i hate to be negative i really do - but this hasn't been the transfer window we needed. I can't understand why they haven't concerntrated on the bloody gaps in the squad again!

We needed a quality player to rotate with lennon and bale - Another proper forward and quite possibly a modric replacement.

Looking at the players only it was a good window...just not what we needed to move forward!

I respect your connection with Levy and I don't hold him entirely accountable, but in your opinion do you think that we have a better or worse team that last season? I know which one I'd opt for.

Whilst i like you and everyone else loved Rafa and what he gave and in the past Luka too, surely it remains to be seen? How can we judge? and not withstanding as has been pointed out Dempsey for example scored 17, yes 17 goals last season, whilst MD was arguebly the driving force the driving force behind Fulham. Add to that Siggy and his goals and Frances number 1 and the Ajax captain, well.....i appreciate the loss of both Modric and RVV but lets see what happens.... or no?

At the end of the day, no matter how anyone tries to put a brave face on things, Levy fucked it.
Fucked Harry over, fucked AvB over, and fucked us over.

I think people need to lay off the ITK's. They pass info in in good faith and yes sometimes the "nearly done" type comments build up our hopes, but maybe when they make these comments it is "nearly done"

I personally thank the ITK's for making this window interesting for us to follow.

Also, Levy has done a good job. As some have said, we don't have a massive stadium like others (yet), and cant afford to throw the extra few million or pay excess in wages. We have to work within our means. Yes we don't want him to leave it to the last minute but he is trying to do whats best for the club I think. However we will never know what is the real story behind closed doors. All we can do is fully support who we have playing for our amazing and illustrious club. We still have an great squad and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season, starting with a good response against Norwich
Agree with all you said now lets look forward to the football takeing center stage for a while COYS

Goakeeper - Upgraded
Defence - Upgraded
Midfield - Weakened
Attack - Standstill, maybe slightly weakened in depth.

I guess we should be happy, but knowing we've sold two of our three best players and that Ledley King retired I'm feeling very pessimistic.

AVB cannot possibly be happy with this.
Midfield is the most important area now days, weakening SIGNIFICANTLY in that area can't be smart surely

First of all I'm not sure we agreed a fee. And if we did, maybe the personal terms was something like a minimum fee release clause. Maybe he wanted one in case AVB goes after a few years.

Well, none of us knows what happened, so speculation is useless.

One question: Can we expect someone to leave? Jenas, Bentley, Kane, Huddle, Daws, Keeper? Or are they all def stayiing?
