honestly hadn't heard about him till now but just did some reading about him. he featured HEAVILY under steffen freund (played 22 games for him in 1 year when freund was U17 manager) and was the U17 captain. seems to be highly rated by the bayern munchen higher ups too. sounds like he'd be a good choice for squad rotation at DM/CM. maybe a loan with a purchase clause?

Totally underwhelming. Can failed a bit to show his skills in Germanys 4th division, wasn't outstanding there.

Was not even close to be part of the Bayern Munich squad until they got champions then they let him play at times. Scored one goal but funnily he never touched the ball but still it is his.

Can play DM, played in some frindlies CB, LB and RB.

I would say not even close to improve our squad now. If it is a loan to see whether he is good enough for us or not okay, but I think bayern only want to have a loan when he clearly plays, this would scare me. Just don't get this, we have Carroll, Luongo, Bentaleb and Vejlkovic....would be a slap in their face I think.

Just my opinion.

Maybe Can is being seen as the second utility player AVB wants in the squad? Wasn't it said he wants 2 players for each position plus two utilitiy players, Holtby being one of those.

Weren't we all expecting CL too? Why do we lambast Levy for a completely reasonable line of thinking, especially when we were 7 points clear of the scum after beating them? Seems to me JJ is unfairly sticking the knife in because Levy's expectations changed due to the results AVB was getting.

i meant levy just so happening to look past he wasnt expecting CL in avb first season, then changing his mind.

for what it's worth, he's been selected for the U-21 squad to play in the U-21 championship in Israel next week, so we can watch him there. I also noticed his contract expires after next season, so i wouldn't expect to see him loaned out for a full year unless bayern extended his contract or just didn't care about keeping hold of him.

steffen freund has a lot of experience with him so honestly if we're looking to bring him in because of his suggestion i'd trust his judgment 100%.

Loving the banner at the top of the page for the Transfer Saga... slightly optimistic though I feel, replace some of those faces with the likes of C. Cole, D. Bent and P. Neville and you might be onto a winner ;)

People moaning about Can are missing the point.

He's young so can improve and would most likely be part of the development squad, the idea that he'd be instantly understudying Sandro is ludicrous, we just don't blood kids like that; look at Fryers.

IMO you can't have too many young, potential stars, but a buy clause is a must.

Not sure what's wrong with Levy changing his mind, the results dictated that top 4 was a realistic possibility, also where's the evidence that AVB is in hot water for coming 5th? He's not been fired, there's been zero talk of that happening and they've had a meeting about the 'war chest'.

An article i'm reading says just the opposite.

Returning to Bayern, Can found himself a regular in the Bayern II team last season and even appeared as a centre-back on occasions such was the trust placed in him. By the turn of the year Can had done enough to be the only player from the second string invited to join Jupp Heynckes’ first team for a training camp in Qatar in the winter break. At the start of this campaign, Can has been almost an ever-present in the Bayern squad after making his debut against Borussia Dortmund at left back in the DHL Supercup season opener.

Thanks to some rather biased voting by local journalists, the top three players at the Under-17 World Cup all played for the hosts and eventual winners Mexico, but it was very clear that the true star last summer was Can. Tall, strong and powerful but with excellent technique, he excelled in a number 10 role behind Liverpool’s summer signing Samed Yesil. After inspiring a 6-1 demolition of Ecuador in the group stages, his coach Steffen Freund called him the “most complete player” he had seen in his career.

He has had to make do with a place on the bench since then, though, watching on as his team mates destroy all comers in an irresistible start to their campaign. And given the size of the Bayern squad and competition for his preferred midfield role, a loan deal may be a possibility in January should Schweinsteiger and co remain injury-free, just as Toni Kroos developed at Bayer Leverkusen before returning to Bayern in 2010 to become a regular. Whatever the path Can takes, though, reaching the top is surely just a matter of time. http://www.footyplace.com/features/germanys-next-superstar-emre-can/

I disagree with this, I think he would be a good signing for us. He is a 19 year old trying to break into the best team on the planet. He is a regular for the national team at his age group and the manager was one Steffen Freund. Why have Freund at the club if we don't trust his judgement?

I have seen Can a few times and he is a completely different player to 3 of the 4 THFC youth's you mentioned.
