Can't see Barca loaning out Villa tbh... this is going to turn into poo poo ;(

Agree, why would they loan when they could easily get £10mill? I understand loaning out players like Bentley and Jenas to get them off the wage bill but with so many cashed up clubs in Russia, Turkey and France looking for a star name why would you loan a player whose value will decline steeply in that time?

Levy is the master of selling players on just before their value tanks - look at Crouch to Stoke, we would have been foolish to loan him out!

The point is that he's made it clear they will listen to offers (despite at the same time saying they aren't allowed to talk to anyone), which is all the encouragement RM need to start their charm offensive. Once your advisers start pouring into your ear the idea of what you could/should be getting elsewhere it's only a matter of time before some of that sinks in, and suddenly our happy player is not as happy as he was before.

I'm not saying this automatically leads to Bale leaving, what I'm saying is that it was an entirely needless admission to make in a very public way, going against all the positive moves Spurs are allegedly making to keep Bale where he is - and if I was Levy/Lewis having just been dealing with this man in what seemed to be a positive/productive way, I'd be pretty fucked off with such a public statement inviting further courtship.
Yeah, I get what you're saying but some of it has been taken out of context in various reports. Also, Barnett's only doing what an agent does. He's completely pumped up on the fact that Madrid are interested. Regardless of whether it's what Bale wants, Barnett believes that whatever he does/says is in Bale's best interests (and Barnett's best interests of course). Madrid are big money and he's not going to say anything that could be construed as uninterested or disrespectful. Granted, if I were Levy, I'd be going apeshit this morning.

"No club contacted me. I was there [in Europe] alone," Luigi told Radio Gaucha.
"I went to see the [Wembley] stadium well and to watch the game. But I didn't talk with anybody regarding the player."
Luigi did admit that he was expecting offers - but did not know if Tottenham would be back for him.
"It's possible that an offer happens, but I don't know if it will be from Tottenham," he said.
"The player has been called up again, will play the Confederations Cup and is wanted [by many clubs]."

Nothing any of them say is ever the whole truth.

Remember what I said yesterday on the Villa deal? Well DL isn't trying to buy him so I was right, well kind of as he wants to loan him!

FFS..... I see where Levy is coming from with a loan deal, but it's going to end up with Villa going elsewhere in a permanent deal. Media and opposition fans are going to LOVE it if it all falls apart at the seams.

It looks like DL is planning on going all out......well kind of. Seems like the talk is of signing exciting, attacking, potentially expensive players on loan. The right calibre to push for the CL but not getting too carried away and getting lumbered with the cost if they fail. Can't really pick holes in the strategy to be honest, it sounds the best thing to do for Spurs, the unfortunate thing is that it doesn't always work for the loaning teams. Emre Can from Bayern could be great for all parties, young and exciting player who can't quite push into the best team in Europe right now but could get some experience on loan to a team in the second tier. Villa however on loan offers no benefit for Barca. Why would they send a 31yr old out on loan to try and sell him when he's a year older? Unlikely, he's been back and playing for some time so can't argue that he needs the fitness before someone comes in. I think Monaco or A Madrid or even Porto would be happy to pay a fee for him this summer and that would suit Barca more than our offer.

As for the other bit of ITK last night, the harlequins criptic - did anyone get to the bottom of this? The only thing i could think of was any players with the same names as the rugby squad players. Only one i can think of is Lambert but that is a super tenuous connection, i just thought he could be on the list as a back up (i hope not though).

Exactly, and agreed, the agent is doing his job. Levy going apeshit was entirely the point I was making. (y)

Dont see why Barca would just loan out Villa. BUT he seems to be on the last year of his contract (http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/fc-barcelona/kader-vertragsende/verein_131_2014.html). maybe Villa has already made it clear to barca that he intends to see out his contract in order to get a bigger piece of the pie of his next permanent transfer. If barca has accepted that then they might agree to loan him out just so that some else cover his wages until the contract end.

Would Barca be interested in loaning us Villa in return for first option on Bale for a pre agreed price?

We will be told to "do one" if we try to loan Villa, and rightly so. Barca will get in and around the 10-12mil they want for him no bother at all. Spains all time top scorer and has won the lot ffs.

Starting to get worried about how much cash we actually have again with Levy looking at two loan deals (Can & Villa). Could just be a Levy mind fuck, but it does slightly contradict the number of players AVB wants in and the fact we are supposedly going to be spending more than we re-coup this window too:

No LB according to AVB
One CM - Can, loan
One winger...
Two up top... Villa loan & Damiao

Assuming we're gonna be getting around £25m in for players sold and we're supposedly spending money this window, that's an awful lot on two players. That is unless we are looking at really world class top knotch players....

They may well be, but they are pikeys when it comes to transfers. Madrid is the team we would want to deal with as the price would be massively higher. Barca seem to rely on players aggitating for a move, while Real seem to pay more.

Villa said he would wait for a year and leave on a free
so come to us for year, if it doesn't work out he can find another club
if it works out we sign him for free.
Gets the wages off the books for Barca.
This could work, if it ends up saving £10m im for it.
