I fail to get your point. we were top at some point too. Should we have won the league too?

Top much earlier in the season though, no? We were 3rd in January with a 10 point gap between us and the scum. That was a great position to be in. Everyone blames Redknapp for our subsequent slide, but IMO it wasn't so black and white.

Nobody disagrees with that, but if the right player is not available at the right price, you do not buy.

Willian for instance went for £34 million, now that is over paying.

agreed.............although i would rather have brought Danny Graham for £5m that have no one else!!

Don't disagree with you. Maybe that tells us something though? Not so much about Gyfi's ability (and I like him as a player, goal-scoring, or until this season with us he was, mids aren't all that common) but with how AVB views him and how he might fit into the way he wants us to play as a team? He's played Ade and JD together a few times and it's been ugly most times. Not sure why he hasn't given Ade with Sigs behind him a real look see but he hasn't.

Dempsey has had plenty of goes, and delivered in fairness. Again, I think this points to AVB simply not fancying Sigs though.
I think it's difficult to find a place in the first 11 for Sig, Ade and Defoe showed they could work together last season, they've got goals in them, and like you said Dempsey has done the business, the only possible place I can see for him right now is in midfield with Dembele doing the more defensive role.

He's not going to spend money the business can't afford, and he's made it very clear that he's not going to base his spending on CL qualification. You mention Rasiak, but he was cheap and we made our money back. That's more than you can say for most of the Comolli-Ramos signings of 2008.

I knew Raziak would be brought up, like that. I meant more panic buying with including him

Wise words mate and I agree. I was more commenting on the transfers though. Levy the arch negotiator has become a joke IMO.

He has done well for the club, there is no doubt about that. But I am worried for the future when avb tires of his meddling and penny pinching. Where did the money go that we bid for mounthinio in the summer?
Enic won't invest their own money on players it's all about the new stadium and selling us for a return on their investment

Completely agree with this.

Not directed at anyone specific on here but that attitude prevails in my corner of WHL - frankly it stinks. Change for change's sake does not equal progress.
We need cover for Ade & Defoe. Even if we are going to play 1 upfront that still means to need someone on the bench and a 3rd striker to cover injuries, it's why all clubs have a 3rd Keeper and 3 keepers are picked to go to World Cups/Euros. The 3rd striker does not need to be the best player in the club he just has to be good enough to do that job whilst Ade or Defoe (or both) are out.

It wasnt Levy in the dressing room at half time at the Emirates last Feb when we'd thrown away a 2 goal lead and it was clear to everyone watching that we were way too open and were going to get torn a new one.

That's where the slide started imo.

Reading Facebook at the same time, penny pinching was from there, got em muddled but the principle is the same £54 million is hardly cautious.

In light of what other teams are spending and what some people on here "Think" we should be spending, its a drop in the ocean. But I don't know what point you are making. I think Levy is doing a good job. I am confused though as your post points in the same direction

The cover is called Dempsey, the same as it has been to get us into 4th place, although Kane adds percieved depth, not that he will ever play.
