In light of what other teams are spending and what some people on here "Think" we should be spending, its a drop in the ocean. But I don't know what point you are making. I think Levy is doing a good job. I am confused though as your post points in the same direction

Levy is the best Chairman we had had in donkeys years. It is irrelevant what other teams spend besides which as I say our rivals Arsenal and Everton have bought a left back and a Barnsley player, we have bought Holtby so we are in an even better position than we were before the window opened.

If you were being cynical you could say that Jenas and Gomes' wages have offset Holtby's.

Anyway, a few moaners in today? Come on let's see how it pans out.
As it stands we're strangling teams week-on-week and the circus surroundings of last season are a distant memory, and unlikely to be repeated.
If we can maintain reasonable form, (and considering the Everton game was a freak result; we should be unbeaten in 12) then we should be in there pitching at the business end. The squad is stable, ironically through being small, everyone should get game time, there is more to come from Ade for sure and Holtby's a blessing.

Our best young player signed a new contract, nobody has even the remotest concern about our defence and back ups & the manager is succeeding to a level that plenty doubted.

S'alright, really, isn't it?

I was disappointed last night especially after shifting all those players i was sure we would be getting somebody in but nothing came....i was Fuming at one point but i then thought Hotlby looks great the other night he has that special pass in him and once Adebayor is back in what 2 weeks? we have a v.v.strong starting 11 we may not have alot on the bench but its not all doom and gloom. the international break also saves us a little and hopefully we will only have to play 1 or 2 game without Ade...he will come back in some form hes apparently been v.good at the Afcon? and Defoe can take that rest. Agreed. My Original post was saying I'd rather Levy Carries on, not throwing Money everywhere and continues to make Business decisions like he has for the past ten years that have turned us from relegation fodder into one of the best teams in England

Yes - I would at least have liked someone as backup.

That wasn't what I was saying seriously to anyway - I was surprised that you're clinging on to the thought that because we came so close Levy will spend the next 6months ironing out the details and he will smoothly become a spurs player in the summer.

I would prefer to use what we have the likes of Obika et al...he could do with the experience and who better to learn from but Ade, Defoe & Dempsey.

Regarding LD.....if Levy is serious about LD then he should step it up

Even with Ade and JD fully fit, Ade hasn't been at it at all since he got his contract and JD will score goals, but won't do a whole lot else. We were crying out for something different, a bit of competition and we've fluffed it again.

2 years talking about Damiao now and from being so close to being all off completely fucking reeks, what didn't we know? What was the big fucking surprise after 2 years talking? I'm uber cynical today and I'd give odds on that it was our end who fucked this, similar to the untold negotiations we've undoubtedly fucked before if the more respected ITK's are to be believed...and even if it was Inter/LD who were responsible for it being off....what, no back-up plan? No Plan B? Fuck off!

'Levytime' ends up farcical yet again and we get the same rose tinted shit from apologists. Sickening deja deja deja vu tbh.

As you know, mate, I don't often agree with you but, on this occasion, you're absolutely spot on (In my own humble opinon, of course.)

McDermott revealing that Reading bid 10m for Gylfi is interesting. I can't help but wonder whether than 2m "profit" from summer would have been enough for Levy to consider pushing it Internacional's way to alleviate their concerns over sell-on fees (the reason it seems that deal broke down). If Levy suddenly saw a way to make some free money, safe in the knowledge that Holtby was incoming and effectively replaces Gylfi in the pecking order, he may have been convinced to bridge a gap with Inter.

Obviously this is speculation on a grand scale. I admit it's unlikely given the various balancing acts of conducting transfer business, but all deals are connected to a degree. Expect we'll find out from one of the contacted guys before long.

And as such he got rid of Redder's. I'm not anti-Harry and am greatful for what he did but the great collapse of 2012 has to lay firmly at his door unfortunatly

In a FTSE company the CEO would resign or be sacked, as well as the middle manager.

Not sure this is place for this query but now that we are lumbered with Bentley does anyone see him fitting into AVB's way. Can he be loaned out to another side or is the transfer window closed for the premiership.

Lot's of European windows are still open.

Anyone think we missed a trick selling Gylfi to Reading for £10m and then putting the extra cash into Leandro?

The squad would have looked much more balanced, and now we've just got Gylfi sitting on the bench, can't see him getting much game time with the way Holtby started against Norwich.

Some 'ITKs' loosing their reputation a bit yesterday IMO with the Leandro stuff, our bid attempts were knocked straight back by all accounts, so i can't see how anyone genuinely thought he was coming.

More articulately put than my post above, but I pose it the other way around: I think we went in for Leandro with a big bid as we had that extra cash up our sleeve. If Leandro had been pushed over the line, we'd have needed to let Gylfi go (as Holtby was already above him in that role).

Now, why couldn't I have put it that cleanly in the post above?

You expect Levy to be somehow sacked?

No, he isn't going to sack himself. And nor will Joe Lewis. My point is that every time something goes wrong at Tottenham we, the fans, lay all the blame at the manager's feet, when in fact the chairman is equally culpable.

Should we witness a similar collapse this season I certainly won't be blaming AVB.
