Ive just caught up with this thread, and i'm pissed off. I'm pissed off because a lot of our fans are pissing me off. Why can't we just like Poch and FDB? Why does there have to be two sides? This is the problem that I have envisaged for a few weeks now.

Me, for once, I'm over the moon that we have 3 potentially very good candidates for the job, yes, i'm even coming on board with the Rafa choice, my thoughts on him have changed since his being at Chelsea, he warmed to me.

Come guys and gals, lets just be united for once as a set of fans. Please?

Booooooooooooo. Death to FdB. Death to Poch. Death to Matty.

It's amazing how much this site takes over your life!!! Donation will be made on Friday £20 just for the good read even if todays has been @ryantegan getting very irate!!

Anyway back to thread my opinion was firmly on FDB 100% after LVG however the more I read into mopo and his ethos I actually think like @thinktank says he is the spurs way but I do have my doubts I like both but FDB is still my number 1 but I would most certainly back mopo and Ricardo Rodriguez

Southampton have, according to some of you, won the league below the top 7. This of course based on finishing 8th.

However....
This season they've lost games to:
Norwich away
Sunderland away.
Villa Home
WHU Away
Cardiff Home
Not great.
THAT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE SOUTHAMPTON AND NOT TOTTENHAM.

Why do some people seem to think that all the games Southampton lose, we will lose as well or we'll lose just as many.

Cardiff and Sunderland beat City, Villa beat Chelsea, West Ham beat us thrice etc etc...

Ha! See any of our defeats?

West Ham twice,
Norwich.

They only lost one game more than us & both the Cardiff & Villa games they lost were freak results; go check the stats, they had all the game both matches.

Point is they had a small squad & 4 teenagers in it, whereas we had international players coming out of our ears until injuries struck. Their 56 points is infinitely more impressive than our 69.

So did AVB, i'm not convinced that this adds much weg

I'm less convinced that we need a 'spurs way' manager. Harry wasn't that and was our best manager for a long while. We need a manager to who can get the best from our current crop of players whilst gradually instilling some shape to our overall squad and playing formation.

Personally i think FdB is the main for this job, with Rafa a close second in my view.

Well look at that...he can do that as well! Aren't you lucky! :)

What I'm saying is that they lost a lot of games against teams below them. To claim to have won a league within a league you have to remove the results against teams not within that league.
With the games lost I listed I'd guess they didn't win that league with a league at all.

Imagine if Poch decides to speak English, and the first words out of his mouth are:

"easy guv, all I want iz a bit of passion innit. Most of these players don't know they're born, and the other ones I just don't know. I only came here cos of Bentaleb...the other fancy dans can do one. Tough act to follow. Up the gooners. Triffic".

I don't think that's how it works when we say "league within the league". It's pretty clear the gulf in the table between the top 7 teams and the rest. Well, within the rest, they were the highest placed team.

Levy is The man who is of course the chairman and it fits in with his idea of how he wants it to be run The Southampton manager is a cheaper and more managable option for him.

Why do you mention cheaper, when practically all of our previous managers were not cheap??

Silly post. There isn't a single team in the league that didn't drop points in several games to bottom half teams. It's about how you do over the season, which is exactly why they finished eighth.

Mourinho's Chelsea:
L Palace away
L Sunderland home
D Norwich home
L Villa away
D West Brom away
L Sunderland away
L Stoke away
D West Brom home
L Newcastle away
etc.

Pellegrini's City:
L Sunderland away
L Wigan away (cup)
D Sunderland home
D Norwich away
L Villa away
D Stoke away
L Norwich home

Brendan's Liverpool:
D Palace away
D West Brom away
D Villa home
D Swansea away
L Villa away

Wenger's Arsenal:
D Swansea home
L Stoke away
D West Brom away
L Villa away
D Wigan away (cup)
D West Brom away (cup)

And all of those teams had far, far more resources at their disposal than Pochettino ever did.

I don't think anyone knows what they want.

Everyone wanted LVG until he starting courted Utd and we found out he has a bit of temper. FDB sounded great until we found out he play less inspiring football than AVB. Pochettino was hated at Espanyol and almost got the relegated. A lot are hoping for Benitez although this place went mental at the thought of hiring him prior to AVB. Even if we did hire him i'm sure we'd still call him FSW.

Decisions, decisions.
