I would.
That's a bit far fetched.
No we wouldn't
It hasn't been called that for at least five years.

Would you not even be tempted to see if he could come close? Yes he would be the best player in the league if he did, he was world player of the year at Milan. Oh oh sorry... Barclays Premier League 2012-2013

Also, who was the bird that Levy was sat next to at the match?

Mrs Levy? (Im pretty sure I've seen her at the games before but IDK not 100% sure)

[EDIT: Yep, pic from 2010 has the same woman sitting next to him... so Mrs Levy?]

[EDIT2: And 2008, in a BBC News article]

Kaka would be good to have around, not least for influence.

Lamela will have learnt loads from Totti.
Players like Eriksen, Chadli, Capoue, Townsend, Carroll, Holtby would all benefit having spent time at smaller clubs or with lesser players. Not many will have spent time around a talismanic older pro like Kaka.
Vlad Chiriches would love it too, that guy is just happy.

Plus he'd be mates with the Brazilian boys.

Downside? How the fuck are we ever gonna pick a team?

'Sorry Mr. Top Class Footballer, you didn't make the bench this week. I appreciate you have been at the club 5 minutes and cost £10m quid but Vlad is still smiling so go sit with him'

It's gone crazy.

I would say Lennon misses out if anyone, as Townsend is much more effective on the right than the left. Unless Lennon can adapt to the left (which has had mixed results in the past) I think Sigg would be the comp for Chadli rather than Lennon.

Agree on Siggy, however I'd take Lennon as first back up to Lamela.

It's only sensible we delay the Bale move for as long as poss. We need to take every advantage we can get.

I would imagine that any deals other clubs need doing and the associated minutiae such as medicals etc would be being done now because if we had our way I doubt that we'll leave other teams more than a few hrs to do anything but rubberstamp deals.

He probably won't be happy with being on the bench, but Lennon as an impact sub would be ideal if you needed a goal late on. Even when his final ball is terrible he puts the shits right up even the best of defenders. If he's happy to stay and fight for a place, I think he'd be a great player to have on the bench.

Not really, no.
He's 31.
No, he wouldn't be the best player in the league, I don't suspect. While that is entirely subjective, I'd imagine that at 31 years of age he'd do well to better the likes of Van Persie, Aguero,Toure, Silva, Mata, Lamela even. That form at Milan you talk about was four years ago. He'd be on obscene money, and Villas Boas wants to play 4-3-3. Where would he fit in to that formation? Ignoring the fact that we've already signed Soldado, Lamela and Chadli for those front three positions with Eriksen potentially on the way, and Lennon and Townsend already here.
Sorry, but I think this is based entirely on nostalgia, and would do more harm than good to the progressive young squad we've assembled, which already has two players competing for each forward position.

It would be hilarious though if Madrid pulled out of the deal!
People seem to think that we will be stuffed if RM pull out but Levy is too shrewd to spend money he hasn't got. For me that is what has put us in such a strong position to negotiate all deals

This x100.

Other fans are gormless. Do they think the same chairman they ridicule for being shrewd would spend all this money if it was totally dependent on Bale's transfer and there was no guarantee we would get the money we wanted.

Haha I don't think it'll happen, just that I want it to. Wikipedia tells me he was one of the top assist providers in the champions league season before last. I don't think there's much to lose from a loan deal, but if he turned up he would be unreal. But I agree this doesn't feel like an AVB type signing.

This is too much.

Too many 'first XI' type players can only lead to dressing room disharmony IMO.

We already have a very good squad, but this is just buying for buying sakes it looks like to me.

Plus all the ITK points to Uncle Joe 'going for it' this year partly because of FFP, and partly because he wants Champs League football to sell to the stadium sponsors

Are we? I think the definition of 'buying for the sake of it' is the Chelsea and Willian saga.

I suggest you go watch our games vs Palace and Swansea and tell me we don't need Eriksen and Lamela.

For all our brawn we severely lack brain.

We don't need Kaka. I'd much rather we focused on getting in a top quality striker to compete with Soldado.
