Correct
Anderson / hulk/ Willian/ Mout/ fernandinho etc

Do AVB and DL get on then? the fact he threatened to quit would not have gone down well at all with DL. Why cant we have any harmony at our club behind the scenes, no wonder players sometimes just want out.

The link is all them targets speak Portuguese obviously... Due to being from Portugal/Brazil.

I believe AVB feels some of his instructions are lost in translation hence why trying to bring in a larger Portuguese contingent.

That's why I reckon we've seen such a momentous improvement in Sandro's game.

Fucking hell.

It seems our head COACH had a disagreement MONTHS ago with his boss regarding an issue (transfers) that the boss has final say in.

1. It's old news
2. Disagreements happen in the workplace. It does not prevent people from working together.
3. Levy is in charge, Villas Boas is his employee
4. It all seems fine now
Hopefully this is where we are now at.

Not literally of course. I'm at my desk, naked, eating wotsits. I've got an appointment later at the doctors to find out why my old chap has suddenly turned orange.

So what you guys are saying is we shouldn't go after players we think are the best for us but compromise every time for lesser players and wonder why we can't challenge for the top.

The striker is the most important player on the pitch.

It is one area where you get the very best you can. Goals are everything.

If there is a chance of signing our number 1 target then we must go for it.

There seems to be an assumption that clubs only work on one transfer at a time and only move on what that collapses, which i have no doubt is not the case. Other options will have been sounded out, but as a club if we don't get Damiao this window we won't be signing any forwards, Dempsey will cover.

Huntelaar has signed a new Schalke contract so he's not an option.

It's the brave man that wins the girl.

not at all mate. always say we should go after players that can improve us and are the 'best' we can attain as is clear from the excitement in here when names such as mouts and ld are mentioned and i've no doubt we are constantly evaluating numerous different players/positions. However, due to the window(s) only being a finite period there surely has to be a point (damiao = 5 windows?) where other players with similar/better potential/qualities become available who can still improve us (if only 10% to the 20% the previous player would) who weren't even an option when we first started and hence now have to become a viable option, especially as their costs may be far less than a now widely known player (especially if the owners of said player appear to be hell bent on moving the goalposts every 5 minutes). I'm all for being brave and god knows we've pursued damiao almost to the limits of sanity but surely if these deals are being worked on all year round, then surely they could be concluded within the first 5 minutes of the window being open?

Compromise shouldn't mean nothing if there's a second option available that can still improve the squad/team as a whole, even if it means the first option never happens as a result. My 2p anyway. (y)

I saw AVB and Levy together, and believe me they're well over their rift - if you know what I mean. (think it was sexual tension tbh)

Lets be honest who could we really afford out of them, only Anderson of Man Utd my guess is....

Fernandinho also, would be my guess. Whether we could afford them or not, probably wasn't the biggest problem, more whether Daniel felt that they were value for money.

The only thing that worries me, is this difference between AVB and Levy that took place 3 months ago happened time and time and time again with Harry. Not to say this is what is going to happen going forward, but it certainly did in the past.

I personally think that Levy will back AVB. I certainly hope he does

Thing is all this talk of a fall out and avb's possible targets not being got. Surely Avb knew what he was signing up for when he took the job. Somewhere someone aint quite being 100% honest....in my onion.

I'm inclined to think Levy didn't back Harry because he knew he wasn't here for the long term.

When he did back him bringing in Bassong, Palacios, Keane, Kranjcar, Pienaar it seemed less than year later that Harry didn't want to play them. So you can understand Levy be reluctant seeing these assets depreciating in value sitting on the bench so soon after paying out for them.

So why did he ignore AVBs list and buy Lloris, Verts, Dempsey and Sig then?

By the way I like all the signings, but none were AVB targets for sure

I'm pretty sure Lloris would have been on AVB's list same with Vertonghen, considering they both fit his system to a tee (maybe not at the top?). Sigurdsson is a fair point, although his deal was being worked on prior to AVB's arrival.

As were the Ade and Vertonghen deals (maybe also Lloris) were being worked on before AVB arrived.

To an extent yes, but the one's in bold were signed when we were relegation candidates, Levy must've appreciated that you don't aim to challenge for honours with the same players that you look to escape relegation with. Kranjcar and Pienaar cost a combined what? 6m? Bassong was an odd one.

I think the only horse Daniel Levy backs is Daniel Levy. That is all.

Yep.

I'm surprised this 'news' has got the reaction that it has, because of how old it is. JJ has told us this before more than once its nothing new. Did people miss it first (and 2nd, and 3rd...) time round? I always thought that 99% of SC members had the brain capacity of Plankton, but still...

As you say mate, its in the past, we have been on a good run and are sitting in a good place in the table and all now seems fine. Calm down people. (y)
