Really depends on how much mcmanaman is IMO . Good player but don't see him as a "next level" signing
Not yet he isn't but you never know, he could develop into one.........he certainly fits the blueprint. Young, lots of potential, English and a hefty profit to be made in 2018 ;)

Not for me. Don't rate him one bit. Strikes a nice ball but doesn't have a lot else about him, kinda like Charlie Adam when he had a good season.

i think he's an excellent dribber and a creative/incisive passer, funny how opinions differ. mccarthy on the otherhand i don't think has much about him other than putting himself about and passing simple.

The other thing about this target is that it's typical Spurs. Talk of Damiao, Damiao . . . sign the less exciting Saha. Talk of Moutinho, Moutinho . . . sign Dempsey. Talk of Bernard, Bernard . . . sign the more attainable again in the shape of McManaman.

I don't mean to say they're not good players, but it's often what we end up with after the intial buzz and excitement of being linked to a foregin star

I seem to remember Bale having a similar record. Not saying he is a Bale but he has something about him.

Fair enough. Thing with Bale, he was 17. McManaman is what 21/22 already?? Still young, but taking a punt on a 17 year old is very different off such few games

See McCarthy is a player I really like. Has a touch of the Michael Carricks about him. If a decent team takes a punt on him I fancy him to blow up over the next few seasons.

Very raw.
A bit too much so for me, seems to be thinking about the next trick before he's even got the ball, and tries everything at 100 mph.
also needed a ball of his own in the last month of the season, made Zaha look aware of his teammates...

Baldini or no Baldini, we'll never avoid the Levy percentages signing, and that's McManaman all over.
Saying that, he's probably quite cheap or at least negotiably cheap, young, English & thus quota-efficient and has something about him. Also strikes me as a 'good soldier' type, far prefer him to come in and sit on the bench biding his time than an old pro moan about not playing.
£4-5m? Yeah, why not.
More? I'd probably pass, but then i'm blinded by Brazilian love like the rest of us.

Character and resilience is an important attribute in my books which separates the very good from the good...the way Mcmanaman overcame the initial, and deserved, negative publicity over THAT tackle, and we ended up talking about his actual talent he clearly has...I think the boy has an exciting future...will be a risk most definitely worth taking, and lets face it, Bale will go eventually, we need to think long term, we therefore need to prepare for it...boy could be a very good solution.

Spot on with the old go in for mouts get Dempsey comment. It's so typical of our transfer strategy.

It's like when the mrs says ill sort you out later, and you end up wanking in the toilet. Second best.

McManaman was excellent vs Man City on the FA cup final, Wigan almost fell apart when he went off injured.

Has the bollocks to actually try and take his man on all the time, something we wish Lennon did more often.

What worries me about mcmanaman is having to listen to a scouser in a spurs shirt...can't remember ever hearing one before.

But ill refrain from judgement until the TW closes. You can't help but relate to previous experiences. VDV and Klinsmann's only happen every solar eclipse.
