Unfortunately I know who will be disappointed regarding Moutinho.

I like AVB, I think he's gonna prove to be a great coach for us but he needs to realise we're not Chelsea, we don't spend £20m on players! (I wish we did, but we don't!) We aren't gonna sign Moutinho or Damiao, let's be honest, but I'm sure M'Vila, Holtby, Fryers and maybe one more up top (maybe Callejon) would all improve our current squad. To me that shows the committee are doing a good job. AVB should stick to what he does best - Coach, and let the committee do what they do best - find young talent at decent prices

The suggestion is that we weren't really as close as it was made out to be.

I think Moutinho is simply too expensive for Levy.

Asking price, contract length (remaining & asked for) wages/signing on fee asked for, time/price/ability for Porto to get a replacement, Porto still in the Champs League...

I think someone needs to be fair with AVB and tell him he isn't getting Moutinho. He clearly still thinks he might be.

Either that or he thinks if he digs his heels in enough then DL might relent.

I'll be honest, I'm bored with this attitude. As a parent, you can't give kids things they ask for that you can't afford, and as a business owner, Levy is doing the same with AVB.

It works both ways too. AVB needs to be more flexible with his targets - if we can't afford/get them, we need to move on from them & stop mooning over what might have been.

i do understand this, but...

Let's say we go out and buy M'Vila for £8-9m. Am I being silly in thinking that we might consider some of that, earmarked cash for spending, as (for want of a better word) reducing the moutinho money from £25m to say £17m - AVB gets the player he wants!

I just don't fathom why you'd bring in a manager who wants certain players to get the team playing in a certain way THEN NOT GET HIM THE PLAYERS HE BLOODY WELL ASKED FOR.

I'm a Levy fan, but this is annoying me.
