Hopefully, (a) he knows the players he wants and it is not just a list copied over the shoulder of every other manager in Europe and (b) Levy is prepared to buy them.
AVB worked for Abramovich and presumably wants the opportunity to build his own squad rather than being given players and told what to do with them - however, he also needs to know that Spurs do not have a Russian oilfield as collateral! Bar in mind that all of this is hearsay and we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors (even if JJ occasionally offers a snatch of info) so can't really judge the situation. It may be that Levy and AVB are having stand up rows about signings - it is equally possible that nothing is happening because neither sees a need to get anyone in as there is a plan involving other players and systems and there is genuinely no need to panic.

I guess my guesstimate on that (and it was truly half guess, half estimate, and all half-assed) was that was his price range when he first hit it big and made the French team. Now that I read it again, it would seem rather absurd to build a guy up like that and then sell him. There was an honest attempt at logic

If, and I realise it's a sizable 'if', Liverpool were to sign Sneidjer, having already brought in Sturridge, what would the odds be on them beating us to 4th place?
If we don't bring anyone in, and they do manage to pull that one off, I'm scared that it could happen. I hate that club too, their fans are beyond embarrassing, and I live in Merseyside so I know that more than most.
